Product Details

Gold Bond Fire-Shield Drywall panels consist of a fire-resistant gypsum core encased in heavy natural-finish, 100% recycled paper on the face and back sides. The face paper is folded around the long edges to reinforce and protect the core, and the ends are square-cut and finished smooth. For speed of installation, GridMarX guide marks are printed on the paper surface. Fire-Shield Drywall features a Type X core to provide additional fire resistance ratings when used in laboratory tested systems.

        A:  Firecode or Fire-Shield indicates that the board is a Type X product. A Type X board is defined as a 5/8" gypsum board that will provide 1 hr of fire resistance when fastened to each side of a 2x4 wall with studs 16" on center. Firecode is manufactured by USG, and Fire-Shield is manufactured by National Gypsum Company.
