Takes the guessing out of drilling by supplying the proper depth for the job. These bits are strong and can be used again and again. Use on plastic, metal, wood and steel. 1/4 in. quick change hex shank can be used in any drill or drill press. Includes 1-Piece 3/16 in. to 1/2 in. six step bit, 1-Piece 1/4 in. to 3/4 in. nine step bit, 1-Piece 1/8 in. to 1/2 in. thirteen step bit.

    A:  I'm not sure they are designed for it, but I just used mine (which I had used for thick steel prior) to widen a hole in a plastic dash panel for a switch and it worked great.

          A:  yes, absolutely this is exactly what to use especially for soft material like plastic and thin wood or metal as a traditional drill bit will grab and distort hole the step bit will cleanly and smoothly enlarge an existing hole with very little effort and with even the smallest cordless drills.
