A:  I don’t know the official answer but since it will have weight put on it I would not go much more than a foot without support of some type for the countertop.

A:  Hello, I am not sure why the description says that there is a finish on this. There is a finished side that has been sanded smooth (which I recommend that you lightly go over again and clean with a tack cloth before applying any sort of finish), but we've purchased two of these and both were unfinished wood. We clear coated one for a desk top and epoxied the other for a coffee bar top. Both arrived in cardboard boxes, and both were wrapped in clear plastic inside the boxes to keep them clean. I also suggest inspecting for dents upon receiving.

A:  I would not do that as this is made of glued strips which could separate from the stress of holding the weight of a person especially with high use. I would only use a single piece of wood for steps not a glued together piece.

A:  You could, I guess, but why not just buy box of durable flooring and cut them to size, trim off the tongue and grooves. This counter top, while very durable (ours is holding up extremely well, no issues), would need to be finished, sealed and coated multiple times in order to be resilient enough to handle foot traffic. Also, the strips are basically glued together, I'm not sure how they would hold up to several hundred pounds of human banging away at the seams day after day.

A:  MT22, I believe this would depend on the type of sealant you use. Wood is very susceptible to ALL outside elements. So you want to make sure you are using a marine grade seal. For better advice on the strength of seals we recommend visiting your local Home Depot. Thank you!
