The (very thin) strap ratchets onto the spool, and it's not easy to play out. These DO NOT come with with the strap attached to the ratchet, and it spools onto it to the point where it stuck/jammed. I tried two different approaches on threading the strap through the ratchet mechanism, but was at a job, didn't have time to mess with it and took them back the next day. Used rope instead. Trucker's hitch won't fail you!
Poor instructions/pictures.
These straps are polyester, not nylon, and will degrade if you live in someplace hot, like AZ, NM, TX, etc. Instructions actually warn of this. "Keep them inside." Well, duh, I keep them in the cab but...
I personally WOULD NOT use these for a high value item like a motorcycle. I've only lost one load, and that's because of cheap tie downs. This product is not trustworthy unless you're willing to deal with state troopers who'll cite you for losing a load, then deal with having to clean it up!
I DO NOT recommend this product.
Made in Cheapo China, but then, what else is new, eh?

These are great ratchet tie downs. I purchased them on a whim because I needed to move a very large and heavy executive desk. Id highly recommend these over the keeper straps that are found in store. Simply because they just work a lot smoother. For some reason the keeper straps are very hard to release. That may not sound like a big deal, but it really does become a huge headache. These straps have a rating of 770 lbs if I am not mistaken, with 16 feet of webbing. Plenty of strength for the average load and there are stronger straps produced under the HDX brand. Home depot really won with these as they are cheaper than the keeper straps and they work better. Once they are tightened down they are no coming loose until you release them. The webbing is thin but strong. I moved a 500 pound desk down the freeway and lots of city streets with my tail gate open. One of these straps was the only thing keeping that desk from sliding back and flying off the truck and the thing never budged. A lot of people tend to pass up store brands. I use to be one of those people, but I would highly recommend purchasing these over the Keeper brand.

Great for moving
The length is great for anchoring inside of Pods. These are sturdy high quality tie downs.
If you pay attention to the packaging and dont get knife happy you can store them in the nice hanging rack they come in, when you not using them. The package has tabs that slide out and open up for easy removal and replacement.

They cut themselves
Lost one of these on the highway (apologies to whoever found it!) because there are sharp edges on the mechanisms that cut the straps: I could tell because one of the others got cut only half way through and so hadn't fallen off yet. The ratchet mechanism also intrudes onto the spool area so you can't wind very much on until running the risk of it failing to ratchet at all. I *also* don't like that the hooks are relatively open at the end rather than ending parallel to the strap: This too seems a likely point of failure because if the strap isn't pulled really tight it can work loose.
On the plus side, they are quite strong and seem well made for the price. But the design flaws mean that IMHO these are not a good choice. I actually went back to the cheap orange ones because even though they're not nearly as strong, they're a lot more reliable.

Good tiedowns, after practice
They do work well. But the release is different from other tiedowns and was not obvious to me.
If you never used this type tiedown-- you can't wrap more than a foot of webbing. You pull all the excess webbing through, so there's just a little slack. Now start working the lever.
While they are strong for the price, don't expect to honk them up to hundreds of pounds strain without trouble. If you need more force, use more tiedowns.
Yes, on some small jobs you may have 4 yards of extra webbing flapping in the breeze. Wind the excess over your rack and back then tie-off the end so it doesn't slap on the highway. Or wrap it around your hand and tie-off this bundle. If you never have large jobs, cut and melt the end. Neatly so it still fits the slot.
The release is actually sorta smart, but not clear at first. Pull the finger-grip on the lever. Swing the lever ALL the way back. It fits in a notch. Press finger-grip into the notch, this releases the body ratchet, ZING the webbing goes slack. Leave the main lever in the slot as you pull the webbing through. Then re-set the main lever for storage or further use.
Don't loan-out your tiedowns! They usually come back all tangled. At this price it is best to send your friend to Home-Depot and get his/her own straps.
I don't get the "camouflage". I got a chrome motorcycle, or a big blue tarp, camo straps won't hide my load. But I guess different folks have different needs.
