AnswersYes, I did this. But I also used LED bulbs which give off lower heat. Bulbs installed base up transmit heat into the fixture so you need to be careful when using high watt incandescent bulbs.

AnswersI mounted it with the light facing down -- so it lights up my basement stairs. I suppose the light could point in any direction. One bar of the cross bar connects to your electrical box; the other bar swivels -- it has two screws on it which poke through the silver base.

not alot of options availble that have on-off switch on the fixture. I think this nicest with that option. Its simple design can be hung with light up or down. the shade is nice simple white and thicker glass than some others I looked at. I would recommend.

The light was perfect for the small compact area in the staircase that I needed to hang it. I looked at the electrical box that the light needed to mount to and panicked. The screw holes were vertical now horizontal and the vertical screw holes were not even straight up and down. Taking the light out of the packaging I was pleasantly surprised. The light came with a mounting bracket that allows you to use vertical or horizontal screw holes and everything in between. For the price the quality is outstanding! I would recommend this light.
