I had this installed 7 years ago and recently wrote a review that it had stopped working, but it turned out that the new bulb I put in was defective. After installing a long lasting led bulb, it works fine. The led bulb is for enclosed outdoor fixtures in damp locations, and lasts longer than all these regular incandescent bulbs. Some led bulbs will overheat in enclosed fixtures, but this bulb is ok. The exterior finish on this fixture has held up well here in the Pacific northwest.

Easy assembly, sturdy construction and beautiful lighting

The earlier version in the tan, grey and light blue box has a UPC code 25916 81420. The orientation of the front glass is correct for a hexagonal fixture i.e., parallel to the mount. The later version in the dark blue and grey box has the UPC code 60002 74144. The orientation of the front glass is not correct for a hexagonal fixture as the frame rib points toward the viewer instead of a flat glass panel. Standing directly in front of the fixture, this center rib actually blocks the light when it’s turned on. There is another minor difference: the old style lanterns use a harp to mount the top cap. The final attaches to the harp and secures the top cap. The new style lanterns use a couple of short studs in the frame to secure the top cap with lock nuts and the final attaches to the top cap with a plastic bolt. If you download the instruction manual from HD website you get the assembly details for the old style lamps. To some this may not seem like a big deal, but if you have two of each on the same front porch the difference is glaringly obvious. Three days, 200-miles and five Home Depot stores later I’ve rounded up a matched set of the old style lanterns for my application, and I’m delighted with the lights. I hope Home Depot reads this post and corrects what I think is a design flaw in the new style. In my search I found the same differences with the white models 240-339 and the bronze models 433-659. I also found a couple of new style lamps in the old style boxes, so open the box in the store and check before buying. Five stars on the lanterns – three stars for the hassle of double installs and chasing all over two counties looking for a matched set.

Delivered as scheduled. The lanterns come fully assembled. You only need attach the lantern top once installation is complete and bulb is added. Installation is simple. Will definitely buy more.
