Can we install it in air conditioner vent in bathroom which is already in bathroom ceiling

Asked by: Iram
There are a lot of thing that make this feel wrong. Bathrooms shouldn't exhaust to an air system. This fan shouldn't be used to boost an existing system. and it wouldn't fit most standard register or vent sizes. Other than that, sure. If you removed an air conditioner duct from the bathroom, installed this exhaust fan in a modified opening and duct the exhaust fan to a compliant exhaust point, it should be fine.

What is the grille size? I want to make sure it will cover the old hole.

Asked by: Tanjnt
9 1/4" x 10 3/4" grille. The fan I pulled out was larger so I will have to do some minor drywall patchwork.

can this be used for a room that does not currently have an exhaust without cutting a hole in the roof?

Asked by: ejay
This fan must be vented to the outside if the fan is required by a building code. The fan could be used for a non-code use like destratification without exhausting. All exhaust fans must outlet in a code approved location.

50 CFM Ceiling Bathroom Exhaust Fan is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 265.

BUT, this one I just purchased is for the replacement motor on the original unit. Reason? I don't feel like climbing up in my almost inaccessible crawl space to put a whole new unit between the rafters. Sooo, I'll change the motor and give this poor review. If it fails in 3 years you will hear an even poorer review.

I purchased it to replace an existing same size 3.0 Broan fan, and they both have the same noise level, except that this Hampton Bay has more annoying noise. I probably should have gone with 1.0 sones made by Delta Breeze. I choose the Hampton Bay since it is readily available in the store. Totally regret it. Not entertaining the idea of taking out the Hampton Bay one.

Before purchasing a fan like this you should first remove an old one to make sure your vent hose lines up with the new fan. I had to do some creative cutting to make these fit. The fan itself works very well and is very quiet.

Not enough air volume movement for a bathroom with a shower or tub. Installed 6 weeks ago and have noticed it is louder now than when installed. Still much quieter than the fan it replaced but hope it will not get louder still.

It tells you to make the electrical connection through the outside of the box and before you install in ceiling. Given the length of the wire feeding the fan this is not possible.

Bathroom about 36 cubic feet. This fan, rated at 50 cfm, works great. No steam on mirrors. Best aspect is how quiet the fan, rated at 1.0 Sones, is. The fan I replaced was rated at 2.0 Sones. The noise difference is amazing.

The prior bathroom exhaust fan was quite loud and this one, you actually have to pay attention to notice that it's on. Installation was quick and easy and it looks beautiful. Now I have to get my other bathrooms fitted with one like this. Great value.

Installation was simple, and I did it all from inside the bathroom. I also used a 3" to 4" adapter for the exhaust, since the existing was a 4" diameter tube. This replaced a Broan 689-H.
