Can we install it in air conditioner vent in bathroom which is already in bathroom ceiling

Asked by: Iram
There are a lot of thing that make this feel wrong. Bathrooms shouldn't exhaust to an air system. This fan shouldn't be used to boost an existing system. and it wouldn't fit most standard register or vent sizes. Other than that, sure. If you removed an air conditioner duct from the bathroom, installed this exhaust fan in a modified opening and duct the exhaust fan to a compliant exhaust point, it should be fine.

What is the grille size? I want to make sure it will cover the old hole.

Asked by: Tanjnt
9 1/4" x 10 3/4" grille. The fan I pulled out was larger so I will have to do some minor drywall patchwork.

can this be used for a room that does not currently have an exhaust without cutting a hole in the roof?

Asked by: ejay
This fan must be vented to the outside if the fan is required by a building code. The fan could be used for a non-code use like destratification without exhausting. All exhaust fans must outlet in a code approved location.

Installation was super easy - removal of the old fan and new installation took just under an hour. The fan was used to replace one in a half bath that was loud enough to be heard on the other side of the house. This one is much, much more quiet and doesn't shake the upstairs room above it. This fan fit the previous opening, so no addition cutting was needed to get it to fit. The quick-connect wiring was awesome - no twisting wires into a wire nut and using electrical tape. I may pick up a couple more to use in other smaller bathrooms.

BUT, this one I just purchased is for the replacement motor on the original unit. Reason? I don't feel like climbing up in my almost inaccessible crawl space to put a whole new unit between the rafters. Sooo, I'll change the motor and give this poor review. If it fails in 3 years you will hear an even poorer review.

Since you have to remove the fan itself to attach its box, so you are working overhead reinstalling the fan motor. A magnetic screwdriver is very helpful. Second. I started it and went “Oh no! It’s not working!”, and so I took it down to check that I plugged the fan motor in. I did. Well, it was so quiet I didnt know it was running! Do’h!

We bought this to put in a rental we are renovating and it is even quieter than the bath fans in our home. It takes a few moments to get up to full speed but it does it very quietly. The fan assembly was easy to remove from the housing for mounting and went easily back into place after I had mounted the box to the ceiling joist.

Before purchasing a fan like this you should first remove an old one to make sure your vent hose lines up with the new fan. I had to do some creative cutting to make these fit. The fan itself works very well and is very quiet.

The fan was relatively easy to install but the design of the exhaust fan does create some challenges for install and trouble shooting. Firstly, the compartent that houses the wiring is extremely small and packed with wiring already. Moreover, the plug is difficult to unplug making it tough to test.

Very quiet fan, but a word of caution on the wiring instructions - be sure to slip the assembly cover onto the wiring prior to connecting the wiring assembly to the house circuit with the with the quick connectors. Instructions could’ve been a little clearer, but process wasn’t too onerous.
