Half the time my controller doesn’t work

Sorry to hear that you are having this issue. Please make sure the controller has a fresh battery installed. Also, you may want to change the dip switch settings in the controller and receiver to change the frequency to avoid interference from another device in the area. If this does not resolve the issue, please call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678) and one of the team members will be able to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

If your fan uses the Zigbee Smart Home controller, then yes. This would be The functional equivalent of your handheld remote. Even though it installs in the wall, it has no actual wired connection to the fan. You’ll need to look at your fans manual to see if it uses the Zigbee protocol or not.

Can this wall switch operate with the ceiling fan as well as the light?

Thank you for your question. Yes, this control has independent control of fan speed and light.

It does use batteries. WARNING! Mine was installed for less than a year and quit working. Had to replace it.

As I understand it, you have to match the sequence of numbers that allow the remote and the receiver to communicate (so you don’t accidentally turn on the fan in a different room). They are just little tiny switches with numbers on them and if you never changed them when installing the first fan, it will still be on the default setting, which is something like 1234 on all of them. I’m not sure if the two remotes will cause interference, but I would think not. Just make sure all the codes are set to the same sequence. Hope that answers your question. :)

Will this work with then Brookedale II? Thanks

I’m fairly certain it will, it is “universal” and comes with its own receiver As long as there’s space in your ceiling fan for the receiver it should work!!

Am I correct in my assumption that this is basically the same as a hand held remote styled to look like an inwall single gang control.

Yes, and you can easily replace the battery if needed without having to remove the whole plate

I purchased this and it doesn’t have a light dimming function. It’s either on or off. There’s an on/off function, a fan speed button and a “breeze” function which speeds and slows the fan automatically similar to a passing breeze. The only drawback with this product is that the control panel doesn’t light up. It’s almost impossible to use in the dark.

Is it possible to use two of these (or a similar product) to control one fan from two locations?

Yes, if the dip switches are set the same. You would only use one receiver.

The wall switch just stopped working- i cant turn off the light or the fan. Is this a battery issue or a faulty switch or transmitter?

Believe switch battery needs replacing. There are no wires to the switch and it gets its power from a replaceable battery. The switch is a transmitter that sends signals to the fan/light receiver.

Great product
Contrary to other reviews, I did not have to modify the wall plates. I own three of these and agree finding the button to turn the lights on in the dark is not easy. I found some clear adhesive buttons that I cut to fit over the light switch button so it sticks out a bit. Much easier to turn the lights on and off now.

Works well and relatively easy to install. You will rewire the fan to work with the receiving unit, but that's easy enough. Instructions are easy to follow. The controller only fits the supplied single switch cover. I found that you can cut both sides off of the plastic deco style switchplate's opening on multi-gang plates using a sharp razor knife at the swich opening of your choice and the controller then fits perfect. I bought the cover plates at HD and they have a "shoulder" surounding each switch opening on the back side, when it's cut off to widen the switch opening fits like a glove. The light button is hard to find in the dark so I added small clear self sticking rubber skid feet to that button to make it easy to find, works great!

Great product for in-wall hard to extend electrical cables. However, buttons active light indicator go off after setup. If they would stay on, this would be greatly appreciated and valuable so that we would know which one is currently active. Additionally, it would be great if the buttons were to be distinctly different or designed for touch recognition to identify them at night or in dark places. I had to be a bit creative with the ones I installed by placing a little neon foam tag in the light button to distinguish it by touch, especially at night.

This was my third order of this product. The first two switches I ordered I had to file down the face plate to get this switch to fit. I was so happy when I got this one, and realized it would now fit in a standard face plate without any manipulation! Great job guys! It fits perfect without having to file down the face plate edges! The only issue I have now is the color... It looks so grey compared to my adjacent switches and plates. Are there different color switches to choose from? Thanks, Tyson

Works great! The reason for a one star deduction is they didn't design this to work with standard decora style faceplates. It is a little wider so I had to file down 1/8" off my standard decora dual gang face plate to fit this. It is an easy enough modification to do but really is unnecessary if they design it just a little bit more narrow.

This is what I was looking for. I've had it for over a month now. The buttons are tactile and easy to use unlike the other version with the soft rubbery plastic buttons, that towards the end required the force of an elephant to activate. It took about 20 minutes per fan to install, a little over an hour for three fans, including removing the blades and then putting it all back together. Yes, the other reviews are right in that it won't fit in a multi-gang light switch without modification, but for me we only have one light switch that controls the fan in each room, guess I'm not living right... plus I got the added bonus of a fan timer, so it can be turned on at bedtime and it'll turn off after I'm asleep. The only thing I'd like to see to get it to 5 stars is a red LED in the light on/off portion of the switch so you can see the light button at night. I tend to hit the wavey lines button, and then the light and then have to turn off the fan... a red LED won't interfere with sleeping and won't be too bright etc.

Easy to install. The only negative is that it is hard to find the light button in the dark. I ended up installing a clear cabinet bumper over the light button. Now it's much easier to find. A wireless hand remote came with my fan. I didn't like that when the light was turned off at the wall I could not use the remote. This allows us of the remote at all times.
