It was very simple to install this kit. I simply plugged in the receiving unit close to the front door and mounted the back door bell button at adult height on the back door jam and the front door bell button on the post at the bottom of our ten steps to the house so that visitors could alert us without climbing the steps. The whole system worked without a hitch. There are jumper pins included with the kit that allow changing the ring sounds on the buttons to select which button is going to be the front and which the rear. The receiving unit has a selection of sounds for the front door button. By holding a button on the side of the receiving unit one may select either the eight tone Westminster chime or just the standard ding dong. The rear button causes only a single ding differentiating it from the front. The buttons both come equipped with a battery and a simple pull tab actuates the button by causing the battery to establish contact. There is double stick tape included for temporary mounts or the button backs can be drilled and screw (included) mounted as I did mine for a more permanent installation.

This wireless three piece doorbell set is very simple to install. Four screws and plugging in the ding dong box and you will be done in about 10 minutes. To get it done you need a Phillips and standard screwdriver a working outlet somewhere between the two doors your are adding the bell ringer to and you are good. If you have stucco you will need a 3/16" to 1/4" masonry bit. The value is very good even though it is not a high end quality button or chime being all plastic. The deign is also good the way it works but the design "looks" are not best in class. It works just fine and installs fast.

Installation of this front / rear doorbell set could not be simpler. The receiver (chime assembly) plugs into any 120 volt outlet. It's loud, and there's no volume control, so you may want to experiment with its placement in the home. The buttons are preset so the button marked "rear" produces a single "dong". The "front" button plays a short melody. This can be changed by adding/removing the included jumpers as illustrated below. Popping off the back panels allows access to the included CR2032 3 volt batteries which are inexpensive and readily available anywhere. Removing the red strip activates the battery. The buttons are installed by drilling two 1/16 in. holes in the backing plates then securing them with the included screws to the desired location. Another alternative is to use the included double-sided adhesive pads, no drilling required.
Hampton Bay offers a 3 year warranty and as always Home Depot has a 90 day return policy.

Defective or just doesn't work for my needs. Both remotes only worked within 3-5 ft of the receiver and no further. Not worth $40 for this thing. Returned it and got a $9.99 one at harbor frieght that was hilariously better quality and actually worked at 70ft away where I wanted it to.

This plug-in doorbell works very well and completely meets my expectations. I have owned it for a couple of months and installed the buttons on my front door and an outside door into my garage. Coverage and range is excellent and it works every time. The only minor "gripe" is that the 2nd button only gives one "ding" when pressed - that's just a feature of the product. Very satisfied overall!
