Q:I've got a 50 year old concrete building with two courses of block below grade and leading in one corner. There is a tar coating on the block now--Can I use the 101 over old tar? Should I use more than one coat?

Answer This Question

A:  ReidMac, we don't recommend using Henry 101 for your project. The solvents in the HE101 could soften the existing asphalt ( Tar ) and may not adhere well. You can use Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion Sealer and Dampproofer for this project though since it is not solvent based.

Q:Can be used on interior basement stone walls?
      by|Feb 17, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Steve, Henry 101 Non-Fibered Foundation coating should NOT be used on the interior of a basement. Henry 101 is an exterior product only. If you need to dampproof your basement there are products such a Drylock that is an interior product and is found in the paint department in Home Depot. Your best bet would be to consult with the paint specialist at your local Home Depot for interior dampproofing products.

Was all as stated, worked good however a little tough to apply, 1st used 3 knott brush, and that stunk, used a 4" brush next and that stuck also but was good for small touch up areas. Finally used a paint pad about 5" - 6 " and that worked pretty good to apply it.

Product went on easily with just a brush and had no issues with it at all. I am using this along my Foundation to stop water from seeping in during rain storms and it worked fine during our first storm.

            Great Product
I just used this to coat my foundation. after 50 years the original coating was no more. I mixed it thoroughly but it didn't change the consistence... it appeared it never separated. on the can it says not to apply if rain is threatening within 24 hours. I could not find a drying time on it. it took roughly 2-4 hours to become tacky and about 6-8 hours before it was dry. I Let it sit overnight anyway until I started the back fill

Great product to seal house foundation. Goes on easily with large brush. Warning on shipping: two buckets destroyed by freight company. Suggest having it shipped to the store instead.
