Jeff, roof coatings such as Henry 288 Solar-Flex are not warrantied to be applied to shingles. Some people have done so but we do not recommend that type of application. An acrylic roof coating applied to old shingles may cause the shingles to curl up at the edges or crack.
Joel, Henry 288 Solar-Flex Tan Acrylic Roof Coating is not suited for coating a handicap ramp. Henry 288 should not be walked on unless it is for normal maintenance on a roof. You would be better suited to consult a paint specialist at your local Home Depot for a coating for a handicap ramp.
Tomdignan, the rule of thumb for application of acrylic white coatings like Henry 287 Solar-Flex is if the roof surface is too hot to touch, it is too hot to coat. We suggest that you do not apply Henry 287 to a roof that has a surface temperature above 140 degrees F or 60 degrees C. Ideally you should apply Henry 287on a sunny day when the roof surface is warm to the touch.
Sooze, absolutely. Like any roof, you would need to make sure the roof is dry, clean, and free of debris before coating. It is possible that the previous coating may be peeling in those ponding water areas and you would need to remove that before coating. If you would like further assistance please contact me directly at srathbun@henry.com. THank you for putting your trust in Henry and Home Depot.
Kevin, the application of Henry 287 Solar-Flex requires the temperature to be above 50 degrees and stay above that temperature for at least 24 to 48 hours. Cure times will vary with the temperature and humidity.
Brett, to coat your roof with Henry 287 Solar-Flex Acrylic Roof Coating you will need the temperature to be above 50 degrees and rising. This means that the temperature needs to stay above 50 degrees both day and night for a 24 hour period. Do not coat if there is a threat of rain within 12 hours. High humidity will slow the drying time also.
Gail, Henry 287 is an acrylic white roof coating. It is not waterproof. Acrylic white roof coatings have two primary jobs - reflect the sun's harmful UV rays and to cool the roof as well as the interior of the structure. For a waterproof roof coating you will need to apply either Henry 817 Roof Guard Acrylic/Polyurethane hybrid roof coating or Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone White Roof coating.
Rick, you can apply Henry 288 Solar-Flex over Henry 587 and it can be applied to stucco parapet walls. It should be perfectly fine.
