Can this product be used over pre-existing engineered hardwood floors to level them out prior to the install of LVP? Also, how thin can it go an maintain structural integrity?

Answer This Question

No, the existing wood would need to be overlayed with at least 3/8” exterior plywood. Please reach out to customer service at info@wwhenry.com or (800) 232-4832 if you have any questions.

I need to place vinyl flooring in a floor which was added to my mobile home The new area turned out to be about half inch uneven (lower) than the old area . Where the floor meets, the planks will not join. Will this help to even out that area?

I am going to be tiling a bedroom that has the original bare wooden planks as the current floor. I am looking for the best solution (economy, ease, and quality) of what kind of backer to cement the tiles to. Would this be good in that situation?

I am installing a Flexstone acrylic shower surround, and the pan gets glued to the flooring. OSB floor is 3'x4' and slopes to one end by 1/4". Can I use 542 to level the flooring and use adhesive to attach the Flexstone shower pan?

          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Yes, as long as the OSB is not susceptible to swelling when liquid products are applied.

Why will metal spikes leave marks and rubber cleats not leave spikes in the slu? Cleats aren’t long enough in some areas.
            ByMar 26, 2024
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Metal spike may pierce primers and cause a bonding issue. Both rubber and metal will not leave a mark after smoothing the product.

Can this be used to level a plywood subfloor that has old thinset grooves remaining?

                Answer This Question

No. All plywood must be free of contamination such as thin set and it must be exterior rated.

Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the self-leveling compound is easy to mix and apply, providing a smooth and level surface for various flooring projects. Many users appreciated its effectiveness on wood subfloors and its quick drying time, although some noted that it could benefit from a longer working time before setting. While most found it performed well, a few experienced challenges with achieving perfect leveling, particularly in larger areas. Overall, the product is well-received for its convenience and performance in DIY applications.

This was much easier to apply than I expected. I mixed it according to the instructions and found that it had the perfect balance between a tall enough build up to cover my heating wires but enough flowability that it spread out without a lot of manipulation required from me.

This product is great and I do not know why it is not stocked in any HD in the area where I live (Western Washington). It mixes well and pours easily. It leveled out as poured fairly well and ended up perfectly flat for the 12'x12' that we did. We poured it over a Heat-Matrix uncoupling mat which made placing the tile much easier than placing the mortar into the mat first then placing the tile. It sets up quickly so we mixed all 9 bags at once. It has been installed for about a month as of this review. Very happy with the result!

Great solution for self-leveler without metal lath mesh needed
I am a DIYer and was looking to remodel a small powder room (pictured). The plywood subfloor was uneven due to settling over the years, so I used Henry 542 to level the floor ahead of my Ditra underlayment & tile installation. As someone who has never used self-leveler before, Henry 542 is incredibly easy to use and works as advertised. I liked it because it did not require metal lath on the subfloor for structural support like other solutions. Follow the directions, including priming the wood surface with Henry 564, 554, or 543 solution (sold in a bottle) using a short nap or foam roller. When mixing the water and the 542, make sure you measure the amount of water per the instructions. It was also important to have the appropriate barriers to prevent the mixture from flowing everywhere. It is a runny consistency and goes wherever gravity lets it, so you have to build containment. There are solutions out there that are easy to use and I used one which was essentially styrofoam that let me cut the excess/top away after the leveling mix dried. Also worth nothing, you can spot-level the floor and do not need to cover the entire surface as I did. Finally, as silly as it sounds, practice your pour with an empty bucket!!! Make sure you know the path you are going to pour before mixing and pouring. You only get one shot and any attempts to smooth after pouring will be a challenge as the mixture starts to harden pretty quickly (see my picture and on the right where I messed up a little). My room was small enough where I did not need to walk in the mixture, but I have read that soccer cleats should be worn to prevent permanent imprints in the surface if you are walking through it. Overall this was a very easy to use product and worked as advertised!

This Portland cement based self-leveling underlayment is really easy to use - especially in small places and irregularly-shaped areas - way easier that cutting hardi-backer and you don't have to use thinset and screws to get proper underlayment for your tile.

Mixed well per the instructions. The key to an even pour is to use a gauge rake.

                    NO lath required
Purchased because my leveling job would be a thin pour in some spots(only 1/8th of an inch). I didn't think lath would properly seat in the thinnest areas. Glad to find a product not needing lath
