It's not exactly straight out of the box but you can bend it back into shape vertically. It's very difficult to hang - three small screws into drywall on each of four mounting points, while you try to hold up the 50 lbs shelf itself in precise location against your wall as you screw it down. Went on crooked the first time because the shelf was crooked and I had to pull it back down and re-drill and then re-hang. If you're willing to deal with that though it's a very good looking unit. I hung two, one above the other, to create at taller unit.

I love the look of these shelves but the bottom metal bracket that surrounds the wood broke during the installation process. It is very heavy but there were two of us installing it so I wouldn't think the product would break. Very disappointed.

Bent, terrible craftsmanship
I waited for this shelving unit to be restocked and was so excited when I was able to order it. I wasn't able to install it right away unfortunately, and when we unpacked it to install it we discovered that it is bent, the screws won't line up on the shelves, and we spent hours tweaking it on all sides to try to get it to hang straight. These shelves are very poorly made and a terrible hassle to install. I would have returned it but I've had it for several months just sitting in the box. I no longer have the receipt and I paid with paypal. I will not order this kind of item from home Depot again.

Sticks out from wall

Awesome Addition
This shelf is the perfect blend between industrial and farmhouse. The shelves are substantial and are ideal for our entertainment room adjacent to the wet bar. We were so pleased with the first shelf we ordered that we got a second. We use them to display vintage European mugs and could not be happier with the result!

Gorgeous but qualitty issues
I love this shelf - it's unique and allows me to display items in my living room/dining room without using floor space - thus opening up the room a bit. I read the reviews first and so was aware of the issues regarding design - that the shelves stand away from the wall about 4 inches preventing items to be pushed back against the wall, and that the vertical support bars were mid-shelf, meaning that you could not use the shelf easily to its very edge. However, knowing those things in advance, I decided to order it. The first set that came was defective. It was packaged well but the iron vertical supports were not straight - they leaned left about 30 degrees - very obvious. In addition, several corners of the wood were blemished. I contacted Home Decorators and their customer service was just great. They offered to send me a replacement. I asked if they would inspect it first to make sure another defective unit wasn't coming and they said they would. Not sure if they did (because the packaging is very tight) but the next set came and it was pretty perfect. Assembly is not complicated at all - but it is a bit difficult. One shelf would not fit easily through the bracket and we had to gently tap it in. And the 3 screws on each wall connection are a little difficult to get to with tools because the shelves themselves block access to some degree. It's heavy too and requires two people minimum. But... all those challenges were overcome and we got it up on the wall. We love it. It's just what we wanted. With all the quality issues, I would have rated this at 3 stars but HD customer service was outstanding and so I gave an extra star for that.
