Q:How do you remove the head from a Homelite 13 inch 4 amp electric trimmer?

Answer This Question

A:  Yeah! GOOD LUCK. Most trimmers are not made for the head to be removed. My next one will NOT be a "String" type.

by|Sep 24, 2022

A:  There are two buttons near the bottom that once pushed in, the top of the string container will pop up. My hands aren't wide enough to push in both buttons at the same time, so I push in one and insert a small screwdriver in the opening then push the other button and the top pops open. Hope this helps.

A:  Hi, Nizar. Thank you for your interest in the Homelite 13 in. 4 Amp Straight Electric String Trimmer. The whole head cannot be removed. To change the spool; Unplug the string trimmer. Push in tabs on side of spool retainer. Pull spool retainer up to remove. Remove spool. To install the new spool, make sure the two lines are captured in the slots opposite each other on the new spool. Make sure the end of each line is extended approximately 6 in. beyond each slot. Install the new spool so that the lines and slots align with. the eyelets in the string head. Thread the lines into the eyelets. Pull the lines extending from the string head head so the line releases from the slots in the spool. Reinstall the spool retainer by depressing tabs into slots and pushing down until spool retainer clicks into place. A:  i often have the same problem

              by|Aug 15, 2022

A:  Since I don't know how you are loading the string -- I can tell you that the string will get shorter (pieces will break off i.e., weaken) as you use it, and it hits an unmovable object. I know, believe me. I have to string my trimmer at least twice each time I use it because from hitting the concrete, broader around the house & yard, etc.

This homelite electric trimmer is good on trimming but on edging not that great.

The screw to the handle is too short
As mentioned, the screw for the handle is too short to attach. I’ve been jamming my fingers trying to get this thing to come together but they didn’t account for the bar making the handle wider so I guess I’m gonna go get a bigger screw. I wanted the cheapest one because I could give two big ones about my lawn. Guess I got what I paid for

                      1yr. Owner - DON’T BUY
SEE PHOTOS THEN READ REVIEW. after the 2nd use all the string was gone from reel. reloaded& noticed the string is smaller in size. It won’t accept a size bigger than .065” and it’s so thin it doesn’t even stand a chance without breaking off. Seriously a waste of $50 just to buy a better one. Completely waste of time winding up the reel with string it just feeds out till it breaks off. As shown in the photos unless you’re ready to do that every 3-5 minutes this Homelite weed eater isn’t for you.

Good Cheap Weedeater, electric, so you need a cord for electricity, but does a really great job. I recommend. Bought it to clean cut my flower beds and walkways.
Works beautifully! Hard working, little, light. Easy to use! Looks like a pro did it!!

                        Great tool for the money!!!
This is a great weed wacker. It is powerful enough to get tough jobs done. You might have to go over the area slowly, but it will be mission accomplished at the end. See photos of rental property.

                            Too Much Hassle
I have plenty of cord, my yard is small but this thing does not have autofeed for the string. I have to stop it for several seconds and then the string feeds. I like that it has plenty of power, unlike the battery operated trimmer I had, however, having to constantly stop to get string, slows me down to an annoying crawl.

Hello, Grand - We're sorry that you're not having a good experience with the line advancing! The auto-feed feature will advance a 1/4 inch of the line when you release the trigger, wait 2 seconds, and then squeeze the trigger again. And if you feel your string trimmer isn't performing this way, then please email us at reviews@homelite.com. Homelite

It served the purpose for me, I had not much trimming to do. However, in the past I had used one similar to it, and once the string was done, somehow I couldn’t replace it and couldn’t use it any more and had to discard it. Hope it will not be the case with this one. It would be great if this can be battery operated as it will make it much easier.

This product is way overrated!! after two uses in a month, the auto feeder stopped working, you have to unplug the power cord, stop and manual press the release button at the bottom, at the end of the second use, one of the prongs broken off completely, now it can't start. contact the company and was given a service shop 40 min away, and they opens when I work, has to take time off to go there to have this unit checked, otherwise the company will not replace. Have been a fun of Black and Decker, took a chance to switch, boy, was I wrong!!! never again another homelite. and If you don't own one, don't bother.
