AnswerNo, this fan can not be installed without the downrod. However, it does come with the shortest downrod we offer, a 2 inch downrod. We recommend choosing a low profile or hugger type fan to accomplish this. ~Kevin

Fan is beautiful and quiet. The reversible blades are nice so that I have a choice of color. Light fixture is nice, but the bulbs need to be much brighter. Even on the brightest setting, it still just gives mood lighting. At a 3.5 wattage, they are dim. I will be looking for replacement bulbs almost immediately. I had hoped to have an overhead light for my living room, but this does not provide that.

I am really pleased with the fan. Pictures does not do it justice. It was very easy to install. The light bulbs in the fan are nice and bright. I did not know there was a light dimmer function on it. That was a plus. It circulates air better than any other fan I have ever had before. Over all very happy with my purchase and would purchase Hunter fans in the future.

Worst Fan Experience
Spent almost 4 hours putting it together, brackets were too long, screws wouldn't align, the middle bracket was bent, the glass for the bulbs was scratched and had a greasy residue inside I don't know if this was refurbished or what. This was the worst experience I've had so far with a Hunter Fan. I want a refund or an entirely new fan with installation. I am so disappointed and all the time that was wasted trying to make this stupid fan work.

Like the looks of this fan. The Edison bulbs and smoked globes really set this fan apart. No noticeable wobble except on high speed, then only slight. Fan beeps whenever a change is made with the remote. Remote functions are vague on the remote itself, you need the owners manual or enclosed instruction card to access all the functions of the remote. LED bulbs included with the fan were supposed to be dimmable, but they are not...otherwise I would have given it 5 star rating.

I have had my eye on this fan for some time now. I'm extremely happy with how the fan looks. It was easy to assemble and hang in my family room. There is absolutely no wobble or movement to this fan when on. I would have given 5 stars but there are a few misses on this fan. - Not sure why they have wiring for duel switch when the fan itself doesn't operate that way. My light switch has no impact at all on the fan while the fan switch does. This fan purely operates with a remote (I wish there was a switch option, I now have another remove to something that can get lost with kids in the house). - The lights do not dim (if they do it is so faint you can barely tell). This seems to be an issue with fan to which Hunter posts the same fix but does not seem to work for many out of the box.

I would have given 5 stars but there are a few misses on this fan.
- Not sure why they have wiring for duel switch when the fan itself doesn't operate that way. My light switch has no impact at all on the fan while the fan switch does. This fan purely operates with a remote (I wish there was a switch option, I now have another remove to something that can get lost with kids in the house).
- The lights do not dim (if they do it is so faint you can barely tell). This seems to be an issue with fan to which Hunter posts the same fix but does not seem to work for many out of the box.
