a knife
This saw is designed for crosscutting (cutting across the grain) and has fine teeth (16 teeth per inch), making it suitable for cutting thin materials like 1/8" utility boards. While a utility knife might offer a quicker, simpler approach for very thin boards, this saw would provide more control and accuracy, especially for longer cuts. Given its relatively low price point, it could be a good option if you prioritize controlled cuts over speed and absolute neatness.
I don’t see why not , but it’s a 10 buck saw so don’t expect much.
I expected the saw to stay sharp for a lot longer time than what it did. New lumber 1x2s
Sorry, the blade is not intended to be replaced even though the blade is attached to the handle with two screws. Home Depot does not appear to sell replacement back saw blades since the number of mounting holes and mounting hole locations may vary with different models and series of back saws. A complete back saw must be purchased since it is not possible or practical to replace a back saw blade.
I guess it could since it is held on with 2 nut & bots, but i don't know where you would get one & these are cheap enough to just buy a whole new one. More then likely there would be no savings.
I bought this saw for the sole purpose of sawing a fresh cow tibia to recreate butchery cut marks similar to archaeological bone from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Worked great. Highly recommend.
I have been looking for replacement blades of any brand and cannot source one
Backsaws have crosscut teeth, as they are primarily used in miter boxes.
Look like crosscut to me 16 tpi.
No, it's too fine toothed. Need something with coarser teeth
Only if you have all day and don't get tired of sawing
no its for wood working but if you want go for it
This saw is really not made for that purpose.
There are better saws for tree pruning, especially 5-6 inch diameter.
It is crosscut. The teeth are fine cut.
This fine tooth miter back saw has 16 teeth per inch and is suitable for making short length cuts in wood or composite trim with or without using a miter box to guide the saw. The reinforced steel backing on this miter saw allows this saw to be used in a miter box and prevents this saw from being able to make long cuts in a work piece without a miter box unlike a standard hand saw without a reinforced steel backing that allows the entire saw blade to pass through a work piece that is being cut. The fine teeth on this saw are ideal for cross-cutting across the grain and are not ideal for making long rip cuts since rip saws typically have coarse teeth to cut more efficiently with the grain for making long rip cuts and cross cut saws typically have fine teeth to prevent tearing the grain when cutting across the grain of a work piece. The blade on this fine tooth miter back saw is approximately 0.026" thick and the reinforced steel backing is approximately 0.126" thick.
It could be use but it is way bigger than the typical dovetail saw so control would be an issue
Yes indeed. It's perfect for that.
No too thick, I use a coping saw.
