    Answer This Question

A:  Outside of normal wear and tear or end user damage, I believe this may qualify for warranty replacement. The warranty card linked in the Product Details section has a specific entry for Calibration Tools on page 2. Check it out and bring everything to the store.

    by|May 2, 2023

A:  RayD, The tool should give an audible tone (Beep) a tactile feel (vibration), and a visual cue (the screen changing colors). It may be worth consulting the product manual to ensure the torque value is set correctly: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/95/95b0f750-1c2f-4bac-8fd7-9ab908f1bedd.pdf. This product is covered by a Limited Lifetime warranty, that covers the tool from defects in material and workmanship. If the torque value is being set correctly this would be covered under warranty, Please give our customer service team a call at 1-888-HD-Husky, option 2, and they can work with you on this issue.

Q:Can this torque wrench be used like a dial indicator torque wrench for applications such measuring preload on diff pinion?
            by|Nov 1, 2022
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  James, That would depend on the preload torque you needed to measure. This wrench operates between 20 and 100 ft-lbs with an error factor of +/-2% in that range. Dial indicators are sometimes more accurate, especially at lower torque ranges.

Torque wrenches are a necessary tool mostly in automotive work where nuts and bolts are required to be tightened to a certain value. The only good thing I can say about the Husky electronic torque wrench is that it comes with a nice case. The only thing that this torque wrench does is flash "Cbry" so I called Apex tool who makes it and they no idea what is wrong with it. They said they were going to replace it, but never did.

The HUSKY 3/8 IN. DRIVE ELECTRONIC TORQUE WRENCH is a capable torque wrench with a couple of flaws. First, it's pretty big and bulky. I guess there needs to be a place for all the electronics, so that accounts for the thickness of the wrench. Second, it does not come with batteries. If you purchase the wrench, make sure you have a couple of AAA batteries handy. It is a full-functioning torque wrench and has three indicators when approaching your set torque, vibration, sound and an LCD light. All three are effective in letting you know you are approaching the torque you have set. Due to a 72 tooth ratchet, the tool has a convenient 5 degree arc. The bright LCD screen can be seen in most environments and the tool comes with a wide range of torque settings, 20-100 ft pounds. Measurements can be read in ft pounds, inch pounds, newton metre, KG-m and KG-CM. Since it's pretty new, at this point, I can't determine how long the batteries will last.

Heavy Duty Torque wrench. It comes with a convenient carrying/storage case. Overall, it seems like kind of a hassle to use torque wrenches, but they are a necessary tool for “wrenching down” spark plugs, oil plugs, lug nuts etc. This Husky wrench is kind of heavy and somewhat complicated to use. We tried to use it on the wheel lugs on a Chevy Bolt but the wrenches upper limit (100 ft-lbs) is also the spec for Chevy Bolt wheel lug nuts. That made it somewhat difficult to achieve the exact spec torque setting. It worked better on Honda HRV Lug nuts, (the torque spec is 80lb ft-lbs). The screen turns red and beeps when you reach the spec value set on the wrench. It also vibrates when the desired torque setting is achieved. I think it will be useful when changing the oil or spark plugs. FEATURES I LIKED: The build quality is very good. It feels well-made and solid. Nice grip. Nice storage case that will protect the wrench when not in use or when rattling around in your tool box. When precision matters this tool is great (+- 2%). The digital display helps you achieve an accurate setting. However, I think I will just stick with the plain old lug wrench that comes with the car when wrenching on the wheel lugs . Its simpler, lighter weight, and functional. It has five different unit settings (ft-lbs, in-lbs, Nm, Kg-m, Kg-cm), however I doubt I will ever use the other four. FEATURES I DID NOT LIKE: Its quite large and may be difficult to use in tight spaces. Torquing nuts where the spec value is close or at the upper or lower limit of the wrench (100ft-lbs) can be difficult. Setting up the LCD readout was a little confusing at first.

This is a tool that I really needed years ago but never got. There have been many times where instructions told me to tighten something to so many foot pounds of torque and I did not have a torque wrench to check the torque. Now I have that tool and it is really easy to use. It has a easy to read digital readout. In addition to a digital readout, it has warning beeps and vibrates as you get close to your required torque. It has an auto cutoff and comes with a really nice storage case. It even comes with a calibration certificate. It has a 3/8" drive so all my sockets fit the torque wrench.

I have had this torque wrench for a week now and it does take a little getting use to the programming of the torque settings. Once you get how to set the torque to the settings you use most you can save up to 10 settings. It has a nice large readout, well lit and easy to read. the handle has a nice rubber feel to it and is easy on the hands compared to the older style wrenches with the hard rubber or plastic. It is a great addition to my tools and comes in a heavy duty case which you can hang on your tool board or place in your tool box.

This is a huge improvement over the previous 3/8" Huskey Electronic Torque Wrench I saw that basically functioned as a clicker with an LCD readout. This new version is completely electronic. When you approach the Target Peak Torque the blue backlit LCD display flashes green and red. When you hit the Target Peak Torque the display stays red and the handle vibrates. You can set when the display starts to flash as a percentage of Peak Torque (say within 5%) AND you can set when it gets within a certain angle (say within 10 degrees). That is something I haven't seen before. This Torque Wrench can be used as a very accurate angle finder, with the same alarms as the torque settings. My only complaint is the visibility of the LCD screen in bright sunlight. I'm typically working out in my driveway on a Saturday here in Florida. One of the photos shows how I couldn't see the LCD screen blinking because of glare on the screen. The handle vibration was the tip off that I had reached the Peak Torque desired. It works, but I had hoped this version was going to have the very visible "Barber Pole" of green LED lights that indicate when closing in on Peak Torque and the red LED lights that indicate when Peak Torque is reached. You don't even have to look directly at the screen to know where you are.

Torque wrenches have come a long way, baby...(if you remember the old Virginia Slims ad). Check out the picture of my old torque wrench vs this Husky electronic torque wrench. No comparison with how much easier this one is to use as well as the number of additional features on it. I recently got a new set of tires installed on my car, so I thought I would check the torque to make sure that they were on tight enough. A few of the nuts needed a little "tweaking," but all were very close to where they should have been set. It was so easy to move from nut to nut that it hardly took any time at all to do my check. This torque wrench has five different unit readouts, three limit alerts (vibration, beep, and LCD backlight), 10 programmable preset torque settings, and angle settings. It requires two AA batteries (not included) that should last a long time because the readout turns off and beeps after 90 seconds if the wrench is not being used. The wrench was a joy to use because it was so easy. Makes me wonder what the next generation might look like. I just know that this particular one should be good for a long time because of its durability and host of useful features.

Husky 3/8 in. drive electronic torque wrench, time to toss away your old beam type torque wrenches and twist knob torque wrenches, the future of torque wrenches is here. I like that it has five different scales, ft. lbs., in. lbs., kg. m., kg. mm. and Nm. This is the right size and heft to do top end on automotive repairs. It easily switches from one scale to the other. The display is easy to read and being back-lit it works well in dim light. It runs on 2 AA batteries (not included)., and comes with a sturdy plastic, The torque wrench comes with thorough instructions (albeit in somewhat small print), and a certificate of calibration. It's ready for work

I was always told never to over tighten, but had to guess when to stop and hope for the best. With the Husky 3/8 in. Drive Electronic Torque Wrench I will never over tighten again. It comes in a very sturdy case with see thru top that can be hung on a hook for storage. The LED screen has a great back light. The readout can be set to five different units. It warns you in three ways when you get close to your target torque. I love the vibrating feature; it can be so handy in tight spaces. This is a real solid tool with a nice digital read out. It runs on AA batteries, no more looking for odd size hard to find batteries. This is my first time using a digital torque, I found the operation pretty straight forward. The instructions are good, but could have been more precise in explaining the mode options. It's a real pleasure to use so far and so much better than the old crappy clicker I was using. The quality is better than I expected. Great quality for a great price. I highly recommend it.

I received the Husky digital torque wrench in good condition. This torque wrench includes a protective hard case with a clear plastic front, instructions, and a certificate of calibration. It has a lifetime warranty and is made in Taiwan. The end cap appears to be made of brass and covered in plastic. The battery compartment accepts 2 AA batteries. I used Lithium cells which are supposedly guaranteed not to leak. There’s a firm rubber cover on the grip. The torque settings can be set from 20 to 100 ft-lbs. To turn it on or off you press the power button for about 2 full seconds. The display is blue backlit LCD, and very readable. When a button is pressed, the tool emits a pretty loud beep. The tool turns itself off after about 90 seconds if you don’t do anything. It has a preset torque button, 5 different units can be displayed (ft-lbs, inch-pounds, Nm, Kg-m and Kg-cm. Multiple modes can be selected including Peak torque, angle and Peak angle. You can set alerts for specific torque or angles before the set torque. Torque accuracy is claimed within 2% CW, within 3% CCW in the range of 20-100% of the scale. When the desired torque is reached, 3 alerts happen: vibration, beep and back light. I think it’s a little short at 15-5/8” for the higher torque settings. For high torque it’s nice to have a longer tool. I like this digital torque wrench. It will serve me well for setting low to mid range tightness like drain plugs, where I might need a 35 ft-lbs setting.
