The attached photo shows this product in use in the "delicate work/hobby area" of my shop, but is typical of the 4 locations where I have used these. My shop air is supplied by a 26 gallon DeWalt compressor which supplies plenty of air at 110 PSI. Then it is regulated down to 90 PSI and distributed through 1/2" Type L copper supported throughout the shop with shop made stand-offs as shown. Here the pipe is terminated with a 1/2" copper to 3/8" FIP adapter and closed off with a 3/8" ball valve, shown here in the closed position so you can see this 3/8" male to 1/4" female reduce. Then a 1/4" male to male adapter threads into the HF air chuck which accomodates a self coiling hose. This station mostly serves a variable flow air gun that fits into a crude holder to clear the cut path for my scroll saw, but the same hose may be plugged into my air brush station or my pin nailer.

It's a bushing. Allowed me to install a standard 1/4" thread air fitting to a 3/8" thread air filter. Thread offered a good lead-in allowing easily installation.
