Q:Will it work on a tub drain basket?

Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for the question Geo! Yes, this is the tool your looking for the notches should fit through the strainer and allow you to tighten or loosen the entire strainer. Hope this helps!!

A:  Yes, works perfectly for removing and installing drain baskets.

    by|Oct 27, 2022

A:  If you can somehow get vinegar down into the threads to disolve the lime build up, can make all the difference when stuck!

    by|Oct 17, 2023

A:  That's what it's designed to do. The notches should match up, but if the drain basket is old (15 + years), it might be so 'frozen' in that nothing can loosened it up without stripping out the basket catches. In that case, use a Dremel cutting blade, cut into the rim as carefully as you can without cutting the tub, and try 'backing' it out with a large screw driver and a 5 lb. hammer. Good luck.

        Needs to be redesigned
Three different brands of basket strainers and it doesn't fit any of them. Had to resize the 4-tooth end and slightly grind down the teeth so it would fit in and grab the crossbars. Would be a great and versatile tool if it fit anything.

The Basket Stainer Wrench was deliver in to regular shipping package with 3 ways plumber wrench. The tools is very effective to make a new drain connection by holding the drain parts in place by yourself which is save your time and manpower. This is very handy. The Basket Stainer wrench durable, mechanically effective, nice design and finally life time warranty. Earlier I repair my kitchen sink drain. With regular tools was time consuming and need second hand. But with combination of this wrench and 3 Way plumber Wrench easy, save time and make best DIY project.

Hard to use, short, short stubby handle give you no leverage, narrow handle hard to hold on too.

I tried several different strainer wrenches and each would not fit my specific drain. This was the only one to work.

It worked fine. I wish it was a couple of inches longer.

Fit strainers perfectly. Gives you the leverage to really tighten down.
