        Excellent Product
I don’t believe the people leaving negative reviews. This Cocoa Coir absorbed water as soon as I placed the whole highly compacted block of Cocoa Coir in a 20 gallon Stainless Steel Pot added 5 gallons of filtered water. It absorbed the water with a little help in 15 minutes by using my hand to scrape off the moistened Cocoa Coir. It has a earthy smell like it should.Using my hands I easily squeezed out the excess water. I then mixed 2 parts moistened Cocoa Coir to 1 part Perlite to 1 part Vermiculite. This soilless mixture is working EXCELLENT for starting my vegetable and flower seeds for transplanting in late September. So far no mold or algae has formed on this soilless mix. That I put in 2

Not as much material as other brands
While the coir itself is of decent quality, I found other brands that are almost twice as much material and cost less for the same quality. In the picture this brand is on the left.

I own a market garden of both cut flowers and vegetables and thought we'd give this a try this year for starting our seedlings. It works perfectly! These are some of our seedlings being grown in this product! Delivery was fast, just a few days. I have zero dislikes about this!

The product is an excellent sustainable replacement for peat. It holds moisture well. The compact brick doesn't take much room for storage. I use it as part of my home made potting mix. I wish it was available at my local Home Depot. Many of my gardening friends are using this instead of peat since it is sustainable and peat is a harvested from the environment without replacement.

I purchase several each year. Add half a large bag of horticultural vermiculite, one 11 pound block of COIR, and around 15 gallons of warm to hot water to fill a large wheelbarrow. Enough to pot close to 200 4 inch pots. I pot up several hundred dahlia tubers for myself and the National Capital Dahlia Society every spring. COIR is environmentally friendly, and great for starting tubers, seeds, etc. I add half a teaspoon of time releast fertilizer per pot around the edges and water daily until time to repot in the garden. Home Depot has the best value I can find on the Internet, and free delivery.

This review is for Hydro Crunch 11 lbs. Coco Coir Block of Soilless Growing Media. This is the first time I ever used coco coir block to grow things instead of soil. I was a bit of nervous at the beginning but I am very happy with the end result. It seems to be easier to transport the plants because you won;t get lose soil everywhere. My plants like it so far. It is a keeper.

I really like using coco coir as a growing medium. It is easy to transport, the plants love it, and it seems to have plenty of nutrients to get things started from seed on its own. This particular brand of coco coir is very nice as well, it is consistent and has a good distribution. My only issue with it is that since coco coir expands as you add water to it, and it comes in one giant block, you really need to use all of it at once, but as long as you plan ahead for that it will work out great!
