There is any way to turn it off

Answer This Question
A: Hi Paul, thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that your disposer won't turn off. If you haven't already, completely turn off the power from all sources by unplugging and/or cutting the power from the fuse box or circuit breaker. Once the power is off, disconnect the plastic tube from the spigot at the bottom of the button. Make sure there's no blockage in the tubing.
Unplug the switch box. Make sure the tube is securely attached to the switch box and that there is no blockage in the tubing at that end. Plug the switch box back in. Turn power back on and plug the disposer in. Force air into the tubing by blowing through it. If manually forcing the air through the tube turned the disposer off, please contact us via https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask. If manually forcing the air through the tube did not turn the disposer off, the switch box is not working. You will need to replace the SinkTop Switch kit. I hope you'll find this information helpful.

Q:Is the purpose of interrupting the instant hot water system to just run one hi amp device at a time, reducing the load on the breaker?

Answer This Question
A: Hi ReddyKilowatt, thanks for reaching out. It is not about reducing the load on the breaker. The sink-top switch is an AirSwitch mechanism which means that the power module's outlets are controlled by an internal alternate-action switch. This means either one or the other outlet will be energized at all times and the other device that is plugged into the outlet cannot be used. I hope you find this helpful.

Q:Arer both outlets switched on and off together? It says "Unique 2-outlet design also accommodates an instant hot water dispenser"...but that suggests the disposer and instant water heater would always be switched on/off together.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Robert, thanks for reaching out. The Power module's outlets are controlled by an internal alternate-action switch. This means either one or the other outlet will be energized at all times. When you push the Sink Top Switch button, you switch electrical power between the two outlets on the power module. This feature allows a second appliance to be plugged in (such as an InSinkErator Instant Hot Water Dispenser) and momentarily interrupts its power to run the disposer. The power module automatically turns the second appliance back on when the disposer is switched off. We hope this helps.

Q:Can this be plugged into an outlet that is on a wall above counter height?

Answer This Question
A: Hi Mangos, yes, that won't be a problem. Just make sure that the power module mounted on a cabinet wall is within 3 feet from the electrical outlet and the disposer. Also be sure that the air tubing loops below the power module. For your reference, please check out the Installation Guide here: https://bit.ly/2Lf8ZOw.

A: No, under the sink. I used the same plug outlet that the dishwasher is plugged into.
by|Dec 18, 2022
A: It is designed to be mounted under the sink in the cabinet. Although you could possibly route the cable to an outlet above the countertop, I would not recommend it. The air-switch mounts through the countertop with the control box mounted below the sink and the disposal plugged into the control box, which in turn is plugged into an electrical source.

A: No it’s a separate switch under the sink

Works perfectly on cabinet face below the sink
Kandace from Conroe, TX is a genius. Her review suggested installing the switch on the cabinet facing just below the sink instead of finding a contractor to drill through a granite countertop. We had the same issue. I used a 1 1/4” Forstner bit to drill the hole in the cabinet face and installed the switch without the washer or rubber gasket. Everything else was per the instructions. Works perfectly and keeps the counter nice and tidy. Thank you, Candace for the idea (5 years later)!

I had to replace a failed garbage disposal and noticed this on the display with the garbage disposals. The wall switch that controls the disposal is tucked in a corner, so I bought this hoping it would make the disposal control more accessible.
Installation was fairly straightforward. The most difficult part of the installation was finding a good spot to mount the kit under the sink. It matches the brushed nickel faucet and soap dispenser we have in our sink. I plugged it into the outlet that is controlled by the wall switch, so I can still use the switch to ensure the disposal is off should I need to. The second outlet on the control box is intended for a hot water dispenser. We don't use that.
The switch is an on/off switch -- push once to turn on the disposal and push again to turn off the disposal.

Works great right out of the box. Had installed by an electrician. He had to drill one hole but took little time installing and the switch blends in very nice. Easier than removing the dishwasher. Also, had a tough time finding this in the store but they do carry them and to save you some time searching, go to the plumbing area where the disposals are - they are right next to them.

Product worked great for about 10 months. Cheap plastic threads on in counter button fell apart at that point. Product is designed so that you can not replace a single bad component and you have to buy a completely new unit. So I've got a .20c piece that is broken and get to buy a $75+ part to fix it.

This is our second Insinkerator sink-top switch. Our first has been working flawlessly for over four years and is used daily.
The installation was straight forward and completed with novice skills and simple hand tools. The result is clean, elegant and functional. I feel this upgrade ads value and safety.
