Q:How long does it take for the pot to completely breakdown? Will the roots continue to spread throughout the surrounding.

Answer This Question
A: Usually a season to completely break down but if the soil is kept moist and the plant watered deeply, it will break down quickly to the point where roots can spread. Once its very moist, roots can squeeze through easily.

I purchased the Round Peat Pot Kit for a project. We purchased several seeds packages and a bag of potting soil. The pots are heavy cardboard and do not have a hole at the bottom, but seem sturdy enough to absorb the water. I used about 3/4 cup of potting soil per pot. I was giving these to teachers, so I divided up the seeds into foil packets and included a label. I taped the labels to large toothpicks for planting. I would recommend the pots, the seeds, and the potting soil.

I decided to use these pots along with the Jiffy Seed starter soil to save some collard plants that I had thinned out from other pots. They have worked well so far and seem to retain the moisture really well. The only issue that I have with is not to move them once they are saturated or wet. I plan on planting the plants with the pots as soon as possible.
