I have a K-16102-4 Revival widespread faucet that I purchased in 1995. I cannot remove the old cartridge on the cold side. It will not turn, I have tried to loosen it with WD-40, but that did not help. Could you help me with suggestions on how to remove it. Thank you.
Asked by: Sue
I had the same issue, I soaked it in wd40 then used slip joints on the threaded base and held it tight with both hands and had someone else use a deep 5/8 socket to turn the valve counter clockwise while I held the base. After 2 tries we got it loose!

On my sink at home this cartridge has a rubber piece over the top of it that is broken. does this come with it or is that separate.

Asked by: pawnc
Yes the Kohler 77005 (counter-clock-wise, Cold Water) and 77006 (clockwise, Hot Water) cartridge units come with the rubber piece.

RGP77005-RP is actually a hot water valve...I bought one and then realized that. What is the REAL PN for a cold water valve just like this?

Asked by: Bill
According to the Kohler site, 77005 is hot water. Know this because my new, right out of the box, K-393 hot water valve leaked . Their site also says that the cartridge is "For most two handle faucets from 1990 to 2010". Don't know what happens in 2016.

if we need a valve for the cold water and the handle up when the water is on - are we supposed to get the hot clockwise turn off valve or the cold counter clockwise. Is the clockwise calculated when you are facing the faucet? And if the hot one is the one that goes the right way, can we put it in a cold water faucet handle? Thanks
Asked by: LMW
Hi, this is Laura with Kohler Co. Please call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-456-4537 (M-F, 8am-5pm CST) for assistance with determining the valves needed for your faucet. Please provide the model number and manufacture date which are located on the white tag attached to the cold water supply line; the model number begins with P/N. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

This was used to replace the Hot Water Cartridge on Kohler K-393 Bathroom Sink Faucet, same Cartridge is also used on other Kohler faucets. 1) Shut off shut-off valve under sink. 2) Used allen wrench, fractional-inch not metric, to loosen handle. 3) Used phillips screwdriver to remove the trim below, around the spindle. 4) used 5/8" box/open-end wrench, could use adjustable wrench, to remove old cartridge. 5) Be sure the cartridge seat, down in the faucet, is cleaned out, by wiping with soft cloth and then opening the shut-off valve a little to flush out the area. 6) Reverse the steps above to install new Cartridge.

Even though, these Kohler cartridges are designated as "cold" or "hot, they really only differ in the direction of turning off-clockwise or counterclockwise. And now, even if you bought the wrong one, there is a way to alter the direction of turn.
