Beware seat bolts are not assessable from below.
I purchases and installed this toilet June 2016, and it works well for the intended use (power flush). About three months ago I needed to remove the seat for replacement, and the left side (facing the toilet) seat fastening bolt broke in half leaving part of it stuck inside the body of the toilet. The seat mounting bolts do not extend through to the underside of the toilet, and they are not easily assessable. The threaded portion of the seat fastener receiving the seat bolt is inserted into the toilet body from inside the tank in a tight area not visible without using a mirror to peak under a 90% turn in the casting. Using a mirror I examined the fastener holding the broken piece of seat fastening bolt, and I discovered it has rusted likely due to moister inside the tank. There is no room to use tools, and the toilet must be replaced.

GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT.
I was quite disappointed with the so called high power flush that cost me over 10x the price of the regular one I was replacing. I still find myself flushing 3 or more times to clear the content. I am now currently shopping for a much more powerful high power flushing one-piece toilet.

Hi Naveen, my name is Meli with Kohler Co. I am sorry to read your San Raphael toilet K-3597-7 is not working. This model is equipped with our Pressure Lite® flushing technology which provides commercial grade flushing power. I would ensure that the supply stop is fully open as this toilet requires a minimum static pressure of 35 psi. If the plunger arm is activating or attempting to activate the actuator when the trip lever is pushed, I would recommend reaching out to Sloan for further troubleshooting. If we may be of further assistance please contact our customer care team at KohlerCustServ@Kohler.com. We are here to help. Sincerely, Meli A., Kohler Customer Service

I Really Wanted This To Work
I love the design and the style of this toilet. It is very sleek. The downside is, when you flush, the toilet shreds the paper and refluxes it back. It takes sometimes several flushes to flush. I am so disappointed so that I am replacing this toilet.

HomeDepotCustomer, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm sorry to hear you aren't happy with the flushing noise level and cleanliness on your San Raphael toilet. We are here to help. While there is no way to reduce noise, we would like to ensure your toilet is adjusted properly to yield in a clean and successful flush. The chain connecting to the trip lever should be taut. If there is any slack, it should be tightened to remove the slack. The water level can also be checked. The water level in the tank should be at the water line which is marked on the inside back wall of the tank or on the flush valve. The refill tube can be checked as well. It should be connected at both ends connecting the fill valve to the center of the canister valve. If either end is disconnected, it should be pushed back into place. Additional details regarding the tube location can be found here: https://bit.ly/2UkB8a9. Please contact our Customer Service team at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com. We are glad to help! Sincerely, Sarah S. Kohler Customer Service

Hi Ann, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm sorry to hear your San Raphael toilet has to be flushed twice. This is nothing you should expect when choosing a Kohler toilet. I'd like to make a few suggestions to help improve the performance of your toilet. First, the refill tube can be checked within the tank. This tube should be connected at both ends connecting the fill valve to the center of the canister valve. If either end is disconnected, it should be pushed back into place. If this is disconnected, the bowl will not fill to the proper level after a flush. Additional details regarding the rim feed tube can be found here: https://bit.ly/2UkB8a9. The chain can also be checked. It should be connecting the trip lever (handle) to the flush canister. This chain should be taut. If there is any slack, it should be tightened to remove the slack. Lastly, the tank water level can be checked. The water level in the tank should be at the water line which is marked on the inside back wall of the tank or on the flush valve. Please email our customer service team at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com. We are glad to help! Sincerely, Sarah S. Kohler Customer Service
