I bought this toilet for the sleek design as I really like Kohler products. I had an issue with paper not flushing even on the first flush. You had to adjust the tank in the back of the toilet with you water pressure and it fixed the issue. Call 1-800-533-3450 and be ready to provide your serial number which is on the top of the unit. It is also good to have your model number. This Hotline goes to the supplier who built the mechanism in the tank.
Yes, it is a quiet close lid. However, I do not recommend this toilet. We have two and both have leaked from the bolt that holds the internal tank in place within a year to eighteen months of purchase. The warranty did not apply. One was replaced after much argument though still had to pay installation and troubleshooting costs, the other I have not addressed yet.
unfortunately, Kohler discontinued Mexican Sand. I have two of these in Mexican Sand and wanted to even just get a toilet seat and I have to go to Bemis to get a seat as they have the color sand (148) which Kohler says compares to their Mexican Sand. However, the toilet I want to replace with a Mexican Sand toilet, I am out of luck. :-(
This toilet replaced an identical one in which the base had cracked. We like this model because it has the Sloan Flush-Mate System, which means the toilet doesn't sweat in humid weather. This is important to us because we don't have A/C. But the new toilet is better, because the flusher on the old one would get stuck and it would run, until you lifted it up. The new toilet doesn't have that issue.
Measure from the wall (not the baseboard) to the mounting screws. It should be 12" (or slightly more is better). On mine it was exactly 12" to the wall and it just made it fit. This model is 12". The older units were much louder than these newer ones. Check the dimensions on the width, length and height to ensure it will fit in your location.
I bought mine from home depot about a year ago?
The unit is 21.5" high, and you may want to leave a few inches so you can remove the lid and get inside the tank if needed. If you have further questions, please call a customer care representative at 800-4-KOHLER.
I have had two, both leaked. Call Koehler then the internal tank manufacturer. They may help depending on age of toilet.
I had the same issue and purchased a brushed nickel trip lever kit, part number is K1025329-BN. All you have to do is unscrew the piece that came with the toilet and attach it to the new handle after removing the inside parts that came with the new handle. Super easy, it took 5 minutes. I paid $28 for the kit.
Yes, it tilts backward...
