About This Product

Kellogg Garden Organics All Natural Premium Outdoor Potting Mix is a ready-to use mix for all your outdoor container gardening projects. We use aged wood fines in our soil mixes for better soil structure which helps with deeper penetration of air and water to promote strong root development for healthy plant growth. HOW TO USE: Put soil in the bottom of the container and place the root ball 2-4 in. from the top edge, and continue to fill pot pressing firmly on soil as you go. We recommend adding an organic granular fertilizer at the time of planting and every 5-6 weeks throughout the growing season. Kellogg Garden Organics All Natural Premium Outdoor Potting Mix can also be used in raised beds. This great soil retains moisture reducing the need to water frequently.

Q:why recommend adding fertilizer when planting if it already contains poultry manure?
      by|Nov 13, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Poultry manure will get used up by the plants in a relatively short period. Veggies in particular, are heavy feeders and will take up the nutrients from the poultry manure more quickly. Organic soils have a low NPK because their nutrients are organic, not chemical. We recommend applying an organic granular fertilizer at the time of planting to provide a slow release of nutrients lasting beyond the 3-4 weeks that comes with the soil.

Q:Best potting soil for Central Florida? Most soil is for moisture control but I?m concerned with rot because of the high humidity.
        by|Aug 5, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Kellogg Garden Organics All Natural Outdoor Potting Mix uses aged wood fines as a base material compared to peat moss found in many conventional potting mixes. We believe using aged wood fines vs. peat moss as the base material helps provide a better balance between moisture retention and drainage.

The worst potting mix I ever bought
It's not a potting mix. It's more like a poor quality mulch. Regret that I bought it

We are very sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with the product you purchased. All of our garden soils use aged wood fines, which does make our garden soil look different than other soils. We use aged wood fines for three reasons: 1.) Adds structure to native soil which helps air and water penetrate deeper into the soil, helping with root development for greater plant health. 2.) Helps retain moisture to reduce the need to water frequently. 3.) Wood fines are an excellent food source for beneficial microbes, which helps with pest and disease resistance. We are committed to addressing your concerns someone will be contacting you so that we can help resolve the issues that you've experienced. KelloggGardenProducts

DON’T BUY - Stained my Patio
I’m am so frustrated this soil stained my patio. The water run off is DARK brown and the color won’t come off my stone patio. Incredibly infuriating and upsetting. I hope I can prevent this from happening for other people.

              Wish I never bought this
I grew a bunch of plants from seed in seedling soil. When I moved them into bigger containers, I moved half of them into this soil and half into another potting soil. All the plants I put in this soil are either dying or stopped growing. I'm incredibly disappointed that the seedlings I spent so much time growing were ruined by this soil. The image shows a comparison of basil that was sown on the same day. The basil in the other soil is doing well. The basil in this soil stopped growing.

                AVOID no matter the price
This product was very affordable yet not worth the savings. I opened the bag to see mildew & plastic debris & sticks (not mulch) throughout the contents. It smells awful. I planted 4 baskets & immediately a bright ORANGE liquid started dripping everywhere. It stained the freshly painted concrete, my clothes etc. After 2 days I had to remove everything & start over. The coco liners & burlap were saturated with the orange goo…. This was a costly mistake!!!!! Terrible product, AVOID IMMEDIATELY

                  One fruit grew.
I used this soil in two containers containing one plant each. One was a Roma tomato and the other was jalapeno. One tomato grew and never matured. One jalapeno grew and never matured. I will not use this brand in the future. This website requires a rating for a delivery despite no delivery of this item existing. Weird!

Disappointing - Plants don't grow in this mix
I used this mix in some large, raised planters. The mix contains bark and other chunks and does not seem well composted. After transplanting plants into this mix 5 weeks ago and fertilizing, most plants are struggling. Mushrooms have cropped up the meantime. My two brussels sprouts plants are still the same size as when I planted them. The photo shows the chunky mix and how one of the brussels sprouts is still the same size as another one that I did not transplant.

                      Heartbroken
I should have read the reviews. It killed nearly everything. I’m devastated. I started seeds back in March, and almost everything is gone. Not to mention, it has stained my concrete and garage siding from the deep dark brown that leaks from it. I’ve been gardening for so long. Never had this happen before with other soils.

                        contaminated dirt
We purchased 3 bags of this potting soil for various outdoor planters. When it gets wet there's a fowl odor from the dirt. Everything planted in this dirt has died. Three strawberry planters and three flower pots. Everything is dead. Some from seeds and some established from stores.

                          Leaves horrible stains on concrete!
I’m super disappointed in this soil! The stains it leaves cannot be sprayed off with the hose, it literally made my patio look disgusting. I suppose I’ll have to use a chemical to get it out of the concrete. I’ll be returning the other 3 packages I purchased. Unless you are using it in an actual yard bed, DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
