This 120-Volt Hardwired Voice Smoke Alarm with Emergency Light Intelligent Wire-Free Interconnect and 10-Year Battery Backup features voice alert, wireless interconnectivity, a sealed-in 10-Year Backup Battery, and an emergency light. This alarm requires hardwire installation and includes a 10-year Battery Backup to provide protection even during power outages. The voice alarm announces "Fire!" if a hazard is detected and indicates when the Smart Hush feature has been activated. LED safety light helps illuminate escape pathways. This alarm interconnects with other Kidde hardwire interconnect alarms and also features wire-free interconnectivity with other Kidde 10-Year Wire-Free Interconnect alarms. If one unit is triggered, all interconnected alarms will sound. Wire-free interconnectivity allows for easy interconnect setup and eliminates the need for expensive rewiring. This alarm is also compatible with the Kidde Smart Bridge app and hub (sold separately), which will send a message to your smart phone, tablet or PC alerting you to a potential threat.

A:  Hello. All connections should be made by a qualified electrician and all wiring used shall be in accordance with articles 210 and 300.3(B) of the U.S. National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70, NFPA 72 and/or any other codes having jurisdiction in your area. The appropriate power source is 120 Volt AC Single Phase supplied from a non-switchable circuit, which is not protected by a ground fault interrupter. It is not specifically rated for a 20 amp circuit.

    A:  Hello from Kidde, Going through clear air, the distance is about 300 ft. However, this does not take into account the walls in a home. The material of the wall can make a difference. For instance, whether it is made of sheet rock, brick, concrete (perhaps a basement ceiling or wall), metal or other type of material. Also, the interconnect system must not exceed the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) limit of 12 smoke alarms. Wireless Kidde alarms can be added later, as long as the limit of 12 has not been reached. Each of the smoke detectors communicates directly with the "hub" alarm which acts as a coordinator.

      Q:Does this work with other battery-power interconnect Kidde? I have existing wired detectors and want to add battery powered one. How to make the two systems communicate?

      A:  If the hardwired alarms are from Kidde and interconnected, then install this alarm in one of the locations and you can then add a battery operated only unit, e.g. P4010DCS-W, which can interconnect wirelessly with them.

          Repeat false alarms and lost connections
          Product sounds great if it would actually work and last as advertised. Easy setup and networking which is a good thing cause I end up doing it about every 4-6 months. Convenient when it is accompanied by a false alarm and won’t reset. These are expensive for this kind of failure. Save your money and buy a cheaper one.

            terrible
            It makes a noise for an error that says “error , see troubleshooting guide” but the Kidde website is so bad that they dont have any such guide .

                The features of these units are appealing…integration with other compatible...
                The features of these units are appealing…integration with other compatible smoke detectors, safety lights and voice alarms. The step-by-step installation instructions are both written and available in voice prompts from the units themselves. It was all good until I installed them. The units worked well…for about one day. For some reason, after they were mounted, they stopped working. I checked the wiring to verify that the units were receiving power. The power light on the units indicated that they were working…for a day, at least. Because they were untrustworthy, I returned all the units.

                  Keeps going off with no smoke at all
                  These alarms cost us a ton to install and are unfortunately going off now handful of times with no smoke in site. I keep calling Kidde support but only telling me to clean them more. We just got them months ago, so to have this issue already a handful of times is not ok. It's always in the middle of night too so wakes up kids and dog goes crazy. It sounds like it's tiny bugs that get in and set them off. We have screens and not a lot of bugs inside typically so feel like they go right to these alarms at night because they have little lights that extract bugs. So I think they have major design flaw there and wouldn't recommend. If they fixed this issue I'm sure they are great but this is hard to ignore after spending so much to get installed.

                  Hello Jamal, Thanks for reaching out. We value your input and would like to assist if possible.Nuisance alarms, particularly in the middle of the night, are caused by something interfering with the sensor. These units are looking for particles of combustion, so when a small insect or piece of dust gets into the sensor (*located inside of the unit) the unit will interpret this as smoke particles. We recommend using compressed air, through the side vents/ bug screen and blowing out/cleaning the alarm really well. Please call Kidde support at 1-800-880-6788.                     Absolutely not
                    Complete garbage. These units starting consistently glitching with false alarms in less than 6 months. Presumably from dust, as there’s no other trigger. But even with regular cleaning, the false alarms persist regularly. Now, after about 1 year, I just had to permanently disable one for a persistent “too much smoke” alarm that could not be silenced. Again, absolutely no trigger. For the love of all that is holy, don’t buy these units unless you want terrified children running into your bed at all hours of the night for no reason.
