Product Overview

Protect your family with the Kidde 10-Year Worry Free Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, Lithium Battery Powered, Fire Alarm. The photoelectric Kidde 10-Year Worry Free Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, Lithium Battery Powered, Fire Alarm operates on a 10-year, sealed, tamper-resistant, lithium battery. Using photoelectric & electrochemical sensing technologies, the Kidde Smoke Detector alerts to visible fire particles, while the Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detector alerts of poisonous carbon monoxide gas, even during power outages. The Kidde 10-Year Worry Free Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, Lithium Battery Powered, Fire Alarm warns of fire, carbon monoxide, or low battery. Blinking LED light follows smoke alarm and sound pattern. Hush mode silences alarm for up to 10 minutes, while the LED light blinks every 10 seconds. A constant LED light will blink once every 10 minutes to indicate that power is connected. A low battery alarm will chirp every 60 seconds to indicate that its time to replace the smoke alarm. UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty. Meets requirements of UL 2034, UL217, NFPA72, The State of California Fire Marshall, NFPA 101, FHA, & HUD.

Is your Generator powered by gasoline? Do you have pilots on your stove or your boiler? Sounds like they may have picked up carbon monoxide. Carbon Monoxide has no smell. It would seem that was the device was cleared when you brought the detector into garage. When carbon Monoxide detectors go off it's usually protocol to open and vent the area.

That's a hard one. Steam and smoke can both set off most Smoke detectors I have gotten. We just close the bathroom door during long showers. I know we put one of the Kidde Kitchen models in our kitchen because the old one would go off when we lit the oven and now it doesn't. I figured it may not be working but a month ago a kid burnt a frying pan and it went off. I guess they are just less sensitive. Give that a try. Also the newer with Photoelectric Sensor seem to be less prone to false alarms.I think the Kitchen one is a Photoelectric Sensor alarm.

Not sure where you are getting that iformation, I'd like to know. I have had these for several years and have read all the documentation. Everything states it is fully guaranteed for 10 years. It has all the safety certifications so I do not see how what you are saying could be true. Please post the source of your information as I question it and would like to look into it further,

Just installed yesterday and so far am very happy
I ordered this on Sat, 1/30 and it arrived on Wed, 2/3 and I immediately installed it. The challenge was to install it over an existing fixture for an old Firex wired smoke alarm and this mounting bracket fit perfectly and the alarm powered on as soon as it was mounted just as advertised. It has only been one day since installation but, so far, I'm very happy with this product.

Easiest smoke detector to install ever. The instructions provided a 4 step install and it worked perfect. Mounted the plate to the ceiling with provided screws and then just twisted the alarm on. It snapped in place and the alarm went off for a second. The light is blinking so good to go. The 10 year sealed battery life is great. I wrote the date on the alarm, because we will forget. We bought three of these to replace 4 year old ones that seem to be having issues. Very hopeful these will last and perform as indicated.

I did some research before buying this detector/alert device. This particular model is a dual detector (smoke and carbon monoxide). Just the right size and looks great.

This unit replaced a battery operated smoke detector that went off frequently when I cooked. This unit fit in perfectly where the other detector had been. The installation was easy. About 2 weeks after installation, I burned something in the microwave and it smoked somewhat. I was happy to see that this unit did not go off for a little smoke. My dog used to get so upset when the other detector went off. The only downside to owning this unit was it was a little pricey.

Easy to install with quick setup instructions and no need to change batteries for the life of the detector. Tested perfectly upon activation. Previous detector would alarm via push of any remote control, this one doesn't have that annoying feature.

I just purchased a gas clothes dryer. Before the gas dryer I always had an electric one. This dryer is in our small utility room and I wanted a smoke detector and a CO detector. I found the cost of the combination Kidde smoke and CO detector was lower than if I had bought them separately. I only needed one but, I heard my neighbor needed a new smoke detector, so I bought the two pack. gave him one saving me another $20.00. The unit was very easy to install. The ten year battery life is a plus also. Figuring around $2.00 a year for new batteries, that saved me another $20.00. Can not beat that! I have been using Kidde products for many years now. No problem with any of them. Looking for a good combination unit? Do not hesitate to buy this one.

My landlord installed this alarm in my condo exactly one year ago. Last night it went off in the middle of the night and could not be silenced. This model is disposable, meaning the battery cannot be changed. In other words, the battery cannot be accessed, because the unit cannot be disassembled. On the underside of the unit, there is a layer of card stock, which must be penetrated with a screwdriver to disable the battery. Once the battery is disabled, the unit must be disposed. Horrible design, especially considering how often it gives a false alarm.

Response from Kidde ExpertJul 13, 2018
Hello Scott,
In response to your email; Nuisance alarms, particularly in the middle of the night, are caused by something interfering with the sensor. These units are looking for particles of combustion, so when a small insect or piece of dust gets into the sensor (*located in the back of the unit) the unit will interpret this as smoke particles. We recommend using compressed air, sticking the tube through the side vents and blowing out/cleaning the alarm really well.
