Q:Can the fan on the Convection oven be turned OFF so that the oven bakes as opposed to convection bakes? I understand that in cake baking it is an advantage to NOT use convection baking.
    by|Aug 2, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  The convection fan will be used only during Convection based cycles and can not be manually turned off. It will also be used during Preheat to speed that process up, again this is controlled by the control panel and not manually adjustable. Thank you for your interest in KitchenAid

The cost of a vacation but I get to enjoy it daily
I have been reviewing and studying this range since last November and I purchased about 3 months ago and received this range a month ago. I enjoy cooking and baking. I previously had a true convection oven but a flat burner top from a different manufacture. I find that the electric top limited my control over cooking. I added a gas line to have the gas top and true electric convection. My previous oven was large it was a double oven with one large door and this oven may be a bit larger. In my previous unit I had to add a pan of water taking up a rack to keep my items from drying out. Kitchenaid has created a spot for the water. I have baked bread, made fish, streaks and many other items in the oven. I also purchased a pretty cool microwave that I have been having some fun with too. The range top boils water much quicker than the flat burner stove I had previously and when I turn down the heat I do not have the boil over that I did with the electric range. I love the control and using this range makes me happy plus it looks amazing too! I am so happy I waited to get what I wanted.

          Perfect for me!
I watched this item and reviews since late 2022. I had an electric convection stove with a flat burner top. It was nice originally but I was not a fan of the lack of control of the cook top. Loved the oven and it was a large oven so that is why I was attracted to this range. The gas top allows me much greater control over a flat burner electric and the 7.1 cf oven is amazing size for me and there is spot/pan included for the convection oven so no need to take up a baking rack for water pan.

            Poor Quality
Expected more from Kitchenaid. My stove has seen light use and I take very good care of this applicance, however, the control knobs are peeling. They are NOT metal...they are plastic with a plastic decal which has peeled off. This happened within a few months of purchase, and stove was still under warranty but KitchenAid customer refused to replace....offered to sell me more defective knobs! The middle burner never worked properly from day one....only half of it lights and I dont use it. Have not been able to get a repair person in to fix even though I bought the extended service warranty. Quality is subpar for what was once a trusted brand.

Nice oven, damaged when received from factory
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upon opening the shipping carton and unpacking the various parts, we found some damage. The steamer tray in its own small box was bent on one corner with the paint/porcelain flaking off. The control console is bent upward at the very front and angles towards the rear of the unit. The oven and stove top work fine, but the appearance needs some work due to the shipping damages.

                Happy with Duel Fuel!
Wow, am I impressed. This is a great stove. The electric oven is accurate and spacious. The viewing window for the oven is very large. The grates on the stove top are heavy duty and should be fine for larger crab pots and larger skillets. My only concern is the stove top base around the burners. DO NOT use the rough side of a sponge on this as it will scratch easy. Its not horrible, but it no longer looks NEW.

                  Everything I Wanted
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I have had this range for just over a month now and I am still in love with it. I had done so much research, read all the reviews and been to showrooms before finally choosing this Kitchenaid dual fuel range and crossing my fingers that it would be worth the cost. I can say that it has been. I am new to gas cooktops and I love how rapidly I can change the cooking temperature from boil to simmer. The temperature ranges and element sizes are great for everything from boiling water for pasta, to stir-frying, to melting chocolate. I agree with other reviewers that one of the small elements should be in front instead of the two most powerful so that you can boil at the back, out of the way, while doing other things but it it's not terribly inconvenient. Using the oven features is very intuitive. The prompts on the display guide you through the process. I specifically chose this model so I wouldn't have "smart- enabled" features. I didn't want to horse around with my phone while trying to cook. The choice of regular and convection baking is very convenient, easy to use and I've found the oven to be true to temperature. It does take a few minutes to preheat but only because it's a large space to heat up and I appreciate that the display shows what the current temperature is as it heats so you can reason out how much longer you'll be waiting. One thing about the warming/baking drawer at the bottom; it is handy and better than nothing, but it's only about 3 inches high inside so I'd be wary of baking bread in there and you can't fit a cookie sheet in there because the rack is only 16" wide to accommodate a vent on either side of the floor of the drawer. I've used it to bake "smashed potatoes", keep things warm, reheat leftovers and I'm hoping to try it for Yorkshire puddings assuming they don't rise too high. Unlike other reviewers, I don't find the timer to be too quiet. It beeps as loudly as my old oven but only once and then again once after 30 seconds. I prefer this since I only need one beep to get my attention and the repetitive piercing tones of my last oven drove me nuts. The wonderful thing is that each oven has its own timer with a display. I didn't realize that before using it and was thrilled that I didn't have to set a timer somewhere else when using both. There is a fan that runs to vent the oven after you've finished but unlike other reviewers, I find it very quiet. Almost not noticeable. I have used the steam clean feature after caramel leaked out of some tarts and onto the floor of the oven. It's not magic. You have to scrub like mad even after the self-clean cycle. If you were hoping to go in with a damp sponge and wipe away the mess afterward, you'd be disappointed. I had burnt sugar caked on and it was elbow grease that got it off. The only major features I haven't used yet are the steamer attachment for baking bread and the griddle. I hope to use them soon. In short, this is truly the range I had hoped it would be. My only caveat is that it is high maintenance. My husband scratched it on his first use. We've no idea how, maybe his watch band? Yesterday, we had pasta with a tomato sauce. No one noticed for maybe 20 minutes that a few drips had dropped onto the "stainless" steel and it stained the finish somehow. We have to wipe it down completely and buff it after every use because hard water will leave a mark as well. So do fingerprints. I would be very wary of this range if you have very sloppy or clumsy chefs at home because as careful as we've tried to be, we've failed to keep it pristine looking already which is disappointing because I think it's beautiful and I'll be sad when it starts looking old and weathered. All that aside, I would still recommend it because it's a powerful workhorse and I love the fit and finish of everything. It's solidly made, the drawer isn't wobbly, the racks slide in and out smoothly, the knobs feel solid and stable and unlike other reviewers, I haven't found that brushing against them turns them on though I am careful to avoid leaning against them. If you are considering this range, I say go for it.

                      Awesome range
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Left a duel fuel 30” slide in Wolf in our old home. We loved that range. We moved several states away and are retired. We love to cook and had to replace a beat up old GE Profile range that was not worth repairing. After much research, we ended up with a dual fuel 30” slide in Kitchenaid with 5 burners and a warming draw. We love it. The top grates are heavy duty without tip over holes. Quite frankly it may cook better than our Wolf. Browning/crisping is fast and clean without burning. Great “crockpot” simmer burner. Awesome flat top griddle. Oven is even cooking. We are very pleased. What we dis miss was a more thorough owners manual with some new recipes and tips. Unit does not come with that, only an installation manual is included

                        Baking drawer
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I have enjoyed baking and using the stove top but I’m reluctant to bake anything in the baking drawer as I can see my floor through the side vents and I’m afraid that it will damage my hardwood floor, will it?
