Used to love the Kreg jig, this version feels cheap
I had an older model of a kreg jig that was stolen and purchased this one as a replacement. I miss the old design so much. This one feels cheap, rickety, and is impossible to create clean holes with unless it is just on the narrow ends of the wood I’m working with. Nothing I seem to try gives me clean pocket holes anymore, and the drill bit itself has gone through the plastic bottom of the jig because of the collar constantly slipping off of the bit. Beyond disappointed in this product. The kreg jig used to be one of my favorite toys. I’m not sure if most of these reviews are from the old product, or mine is defective, but this was one of the worst purchases I’ve ever made.

Absolutely simple. I have seen the Kreg jigs used for years, but I don’t do much woodworking, so I’ve appreciated that it works well, but never had hands-on experience. I jumped at the opportunity to use one, and this is their 520Pro, an even easier setup that doesn’t require a workbench upon which to clamp the jig. I had the perfect project…
My grandmother’s blanket-chest from when she was a teen had a set of legs that have fallen off. I got rid of the old glue, backed out old nails, and re-glued the piece using pocket holes to give it more strength while drying. It went pretty well for this first-timer.
First off, set up is a breeze—measure wood thickness with the included gauge, set the drill bit stop in that range, slide the lifetime-warranty drill guides to match the same setting (mine was 5/8” wood, so I used the 3/4” setting), then all I had to do was clamp in my work piece, and it’s as easy as a squeeze clamp. It’s a perfect design!
Drilled my hole, moved my piece over and drilled that hole, got rid of the wood shavings, glued the pieces, and then clamped the legs down and screwed in the included 1 1/4 “ screw. Easy.
I don’t know what my next project will be with this jig, but I’m definitely on the lookout now. It worked so well my project was fun!

Another great product from the Kreg company. I have used their products in my wood shop for making cabinets of all sizes.
I really like the portability of this tool when working on larger items like book cases or storage units.
The kit comes with everything required to get started including a project to get started on.
Pocket holes are some of the best and strongest joint to use and this product makes that easy for all levels of expertise.

Kreg Handheld Pocket Hole 520PRO Kit
As a true believer in the Kreg pocket hole attachment system it is great to see this new upgrade for the pocket hole jig. I personally have been using the pocket hole system since it had to be precisely setup on a drill press to make each and every hole. The upgrade to a jig clamped to your bench meant you could move to the job site. But you needed to clamp the jig down, then position and clamp the board separately into the jig. All of this before you were able to set the drill depth stop on the bit with careful measurement. If you forgot to be precise with each and every step you lost the pockets fit for that board. Well, I would say Kreg took pity on all of the woodworkers out there who would forget, at the very least, one step. Now with this new jig you can setup in the shop, in your truck or even on the job site with equal ease and accuracy.
The new jig has a built-in clamping system for each board you need to drill, they also included a release lever, and with the locking knob on top you can setup for repetitive holes or fully release your settings. The pocket hole guide still has the multi-hole set-up for the user’s choice. Now instead of needing to make "by eye adjustment" for the stock you are using, with this jig you have markings for the 1/2, 3/4 and 1 1/2-inch stock, along with the measuring tool having markings, on the drill, for the stop collar locking tool. The step drill now has markings on it to line up with the viewing a hole in the stop collar, making adjustments for the stop collar on the drill, an instantly, easy and accurate operation. The addition of a dovetail cut into the bottom of the self-locking jig even easier to set up for production work, when you get into the bigger projects. Kreg has again made the use of the jig even easier to set-up and use for one off repair or production jigging, when it is called for. Kreg and Kreg tools make all of your wood working jobs easier, for both the novice and production worker, you just need to look for their next innovation.

The Kreg Pocket Hole Jig Pro is an awesome tool for anyone's workshop. I read the instruction manual thoroughly before setting it up. I do suggest that you read the manual before using. My husband pulled out some scrap pieces of wood, I measured them, set the Kreg for a 1/2 inch measurement, but decided to use a different piece of wood. I reset the measurement to 3/4 inch, clamped the wood securely and then the holes were drilled. My husband then clamped the 2 pieces of wood and screwed them together. The set up is so easy, even I was able to figure it out. This tool is great for many of my crafting projects. It takes up very little storage space.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pocket hole jig has everything you need to complete a small shelf! Clamps and even screws were included in this set.
The quality of this pocket hole jig set feels very sturdy and well made, will definitely last me a lifetime.

A real pleasure to use. I've been using the original Kreg Pocket Hole jig for almost 20 years, and thought Kreg couldn't make it much better. They did. This model (Jig #520) is easier in many ways. The instructions are well written and illustrated. The adjustable hand grip/clamp trigger works smoothly and has a helpful locking feature to make multiple holes in similar thickness wood fast and efficient. It rotates to multiple positions with a simple twist. The drill guide is adjustable in height for 3 common wood thicknesses: 1/2”, 3/4” and 1-1/2”. Although no tools are needed to adjust the guide, mine was extremely stiff at first. I had to use a tool as leverage to slide the block between the stops while squeezing the two locking unlocking tabs. A touch of wax on the slide track made it much easier. The base of the unit is conveniently 3/4” thick, meaning standard 3/4” lumber can be used to raise the end of any long boards during drilling. The base is narrow so a bit unstable; it requires on hand on the jig while drilling. Kreg lists an accessory clamp (KPHA760) to secure the base to a workbench but I can't find it on-line yet. The one complaint I have is the lack of a storage slot for the small hex tool used to adjust the stop ring on the drill bit shaft. It will be easy to misplace. Still, the entire kit stores nicely in the original box so it's a minor issue.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Kreg Pocket-Hole Jig to construct a small bookcase. I found using the jig to be one of the most flexible, convenient and easy to use tool on the market. I needed a significant number of pocket holes and I was able to stage and clamp the wood frames in preparation for the drilling. Although tedious, it was very simple and uncomplicated to clamp and drill. I was able to effectively drill holes that were consistent throughout the framing of my bookcase. I’m a novice at doing minor woodwork, yet this jig made it very easy to work with and assemble my bookcase successfully.
I found the depth guide extremely useful to maintain the consistency of my pocket holes. I was able to drill holes that were consistent in their depth. I like the features, capabilities and measurement functionalities of this product. I needed to make various depth adjustments and it was easy to make those adjustments. The quality of construction is very good and felt it was sturdy and durable to support many projects. This jig will last a very long time and will be a valuable addition to your tool chest.
I highly recommend this product for your everyday woodworking projects and give the Kreg Pocket-Hole Jig a 5-STAR Rating.

Kreg really went in a different direction with the Pocket-Hole Jig 520 Pro. Since it was such a drastic change from what I am used to seeing from Kreg, I was itching to try it out. When I first opened the box, I noticed there were several parts and a couple of boxes of screws all included with the kit. One feature that I thought was a nice add was the markings on the actual drill bit to show where to set the depth ring based on the thickness of the material you are using. The kit comes with a small piece that tightens the depth ring and also has rough measurements so you can get the thickness of the material you are about to drill. With this product being a bit more bulky than other pocket-hole kits, I was disappointed that Kreg did not incorporate some type of storage feature into the design. There is definitely plenty of room for it and with four loose parts that you have to have in order to use this jig properly, it’s only a matter of time until one of those pieces is missing. The overall performance of the jig worked well. Using the squeeze trigger to lock your material down was neat and it drilled the pocket-holes perfectly. Just for me personally, the overall size and inefficient use of being able to store the loose parts on the jig because of how large it is would be reasons enough for me to go with a smaller Kreg pocket-hole jig.

We have owned the basic Kreg pocket jig for decades and have used it for many projects. This handheld pocket jig is much more advanced and much easier to use.
The tool has everything you need to use with your power drill to make pocket holes to assemble drawers, cabinets and much more. The clamp that comes with it is used to hold the two pieces of wood together as you attach them together with screws.
There is a small measuring guide for telling how wide your board is for setting your drill bit which is also included. The tool can be set horizontal or vertical which makes it easy to use depending on your project.
