Q:Is this waterproof/resistant to be used outside?
by|Dec 18, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  The Lectron 240V Plug is made of high-grade, rugged materials that can last over long periods of time and can stand weather changes. It provides its users with shock protection and safety while charging in wet conditions and is designed to work even in the rain. However, just like most electronic appliances and gadgets, the electrical outlet or charging port or plug is NOT waterproof, hence we discourage you expose the plug itself to rain and other wet weather conditions. Our products are weatherproof: IP54 / IP55 before/after connection. The charger can be used outdoor. however, the NEMA 5-15 plug to the socket plug needs to be covered.

Q:Can this be hardwired? I'm concerned about nuisance trips so I do not want to use a receptacle GFCI which is code as long as the charger itself provides GFCI protection.
    by|Dec 14, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Yes, the LECTRON 240-Volt 16 Amp Level 2 EV Charger with 21 ft Extension Cord J1772 Cable and NEMA 10-30 Plug can be hardwired. However, it's important to note that this specific model does not provide built-in GFCI protection. If you're concerned about nuisance trips, you may want to consider a different model that offers GFCI protection or consult an electrician for proper installation and to address your specific concerns.

Q:My charger on my 2013 leaf has a 6.6kw charger. Does this cord charge at the rate of my charger? You don't specify the capacity. Cheaper level 2 chargers are around 4 kW. What's the kW level of this power cord?
      by|Oct 27, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  The charging rate of an electric vehicle (EV) charger is determined by its power output, which is typically measured in kilowatts (kW). In the case of your 2013 Nissan Leaf with a 6.6 kW onboard charger, the charger on the vehicle can accept a maximum power of 6.6 kW. The LECTRON 240-Volt 16 Amp Level 2 EV charger you mentioned has a power output of 3.84 kW (240 volts x 16 amps). This means that it will charge your Nissan Leaf at a rate of 3.84 kW, which is lower than the maximum capacity of your car's onboard charger.

Q:Hello, is this charger compatible with a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe? I think jeep suggests 32 amp level 2 charger. If so what is the estimated charging time from empty to full.
        by|Sep 16, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  The LECTRON 240-Volt 16 Amp Level 2 EV Charger you mentioned has a 16 Amp output. However, you mentioned that Jeep suggests a 32 Amp Level 2 charger. This suggests that the charger you're looking at might not provide the optimal charging speed for your vehicle.

Better than the one that came with my Kia
Worked perfectly with my 2023 Kia Niro! The one that came with my car takes 12 hours to charge, this one does a full charge in less than 4. Definitely worth it.

            Gets Hot
When pulling 16amps the plug side gets extremely hot. Beware if using overnight.

Works great, comes with a case
This charger arrived in a very nice case, although this added value is not advertised. It works for my new RAV4 Prime, so I expect it would work for any electric or plug-in vehicle capable of Level 2 charging in US. I confirm that it works with my old 3-prong 240V outlet used by an old dryer that I luckily have located in my garage. Now, I want to sell my original Level 1 charger that came with the new car.

                Faster charge
Recently purchased as a backup charger for my Audi Q5 phev and our home only can charge level 1. The oem Audi charger will take about 12 hours from almost empty to full while Lectron takes about 8 hours. Also, the unit is less bulky while provide faster charge so this is now my main charger at home.
