Q:Can the lights be dimmed through the app. For example when you bring up each light it gives the kelvin number and also 100%. Can that be turned down to say 75%? If so how?

Q:What happens if my WiFi network goes down. Will the lights stay lit?
        by|May 22, 2024

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Teddy, thank you for your question. As they are wifi lights, you will need wifi to control them. If your lights are already on and your wifi goes down, the lights will stay on, but you will need your wifi to come back on if you wish to power the lights down (or, you can always cut the power to them manually, if needed). If you have any further questions, please reach out over at support.lifx.com. Thank you.

Hi-Tech Super Easy to Install Smart Light
I was very impressed with the ease of setup and installation of this light. I had it up and running in about 10 minutes, which included installing the app, connecting it and the light to my WiFi. There is a QR code in the instructions that I scanned and everything was connected together. It really was very easy. As you will see from the pictures, the light is awesome. So bright and many options for colors and lighting schedules and schemes in the app.

Smart, modern, well made path light
This smart landscape light fit perfectly into my Google Home system. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the product, it is made quite substantially, unlike a lot of the plastic landscape lights I've used in the past. Installation was easy, just had to put the light in place and then clamp the supplied piercing connector onto my existing low voltage landscape wiring. When setting it up in my phone as soon as I powered the light on my phone picked it up with Matter connectivity. I would suggest making sure you have the LIFX app installed first in order to use the apps full functionality. I did not at first and connected it to my Google Home app, then downloaded the LIFX app and had a difficult time getting that app to recognize and connect the light. I ended up removing the light from Google Home app, then set the light up again using the LIFX app, which I then connected to Google Home. The colors are very bright but it is highly customizable. I used the light in the front of my home to light a dark corner. Well done!

High Quality, Sleek and Modern Looking Easy to Install Path Lighting
We have a walkway that has a 90-degree corner in it leading to our front porch/door. It's an area that is difficult to light as there are no structures close to it. We wanted path lighting, but not a string of lights, just a fixture that could light the area where the corner was. We were also concerned about finding something that we felt was tasteful and would blend in well with the surroundings, which are quite stark. The packaging is heavy and provides a great deal of information about the features and function of the light. The weight is the light fixture itself - this thing is HEAVY! I say that as a good thing, as so many products these days are made with plastic and lightweight materials. I would consider this path light to be well beyond the typical consumer-grade material and almost commercial-grade based on handling and working with it. The finish is very high quality as well, in this case, what appears to be anodized aluminum. The lens around the light area and the top appear to be plastic, but very solid and well-constructed. You have two choices for mounting: A stake that screws into the base of the light and can be driven into the ground, or a mounting plate that can be screwed down using the hardware supplied into a hard surface, such as a wooden deck or a concrete walk (using anchors.) I used the stake, as I didn't want to take up space on the walkway with the light. Pay close attention when installing the stake on the bottom of the light fixture. I have included pictures that show the orientation of a slot that is on the top of the stake which allows the power cable to exit the light housing and orient towards the slot in the side where it exits. I had some difficulty getting the tapered threaded tube started at the bottom of the light. The threads looked good, but when I finally got it started they felt very coarse, as if there was dirt or foreign material on the threads or in the bore. Once the stake was firmly seated in the base of the light fixture, I headed outside to put it in place. The soil here is quite sandy, which is less than ideal for a setup like this, but I wanted to try it and see how it works out. My biggest concern was the light being so rigid and anchored that if someone ran into it they would trip or damage the light. Using the stake allows some "give" in that event, with the added benefit of possibly preventing damage to the fixture. Once I had leveled the fixture with a torpedo level, I connected it to the power supply (not included) I already had mounted and wired. Like most low-voltage fixtures, connecting the wires was a simple matter of placing the wire in the connectors and pressing them together. Do note that you should inspect the wire before connecting it to see if it has "ridges" on one conductor, as this is typically the "+" connection, often the black wire. Once it powered up, the light went through a start-up procedure and came on. I used my iPhone and the Apple Home app to connect the light to my home automation system. Connecting was simple and only took a few minutes. Once this was done, I had full control of my LED path light. I proceeded to set up several different automations to light the walkway in the evening as well as whenever family members arrive after dark. I am very pleased with the LIFX Low Voltage Black Plug-In Multi-Color Smart Wi-Fi path light. Not only was it simple and easy to install in under 10 minutes, but it looks stunning next to my walk - especially when it's lit! I highly recommend this as a high-quality low-voltage lighting fixture.

A high-quality, responsive smart outdoor path light
I've been wanting to replace some lightweight and underpowered path lights along my side patio for some time. The area can be quite dark at night despite several nearby streetlights and floodlights, especially identifying the exact edges of my staircase. I decided to give this light a try, especially since I already have so many smart devices integrated into my home. The low voltage connectoris incredibly simple - just a simple snap around existing wiring. The functionality is as-expected with this product, including changing colors and shades. Pairing with/integrating into my Google Home setup was also very simple and easy, and voice activated controls through Home seem to work perfectly! This light comes with an optional stake, but I would definitely recommend giving this light a more permament installation - it is heavy, very high quality, and very sturdy, and expect it will last a very, very long time.

          Great Light - Frustrating Setup
I was surprised how big and heavy this light is. It's over 14" tall, 3.25" wide, and the stake is 5.75" if installed. The light definitely feels heavy duty, is stylish, and well constructed. I installed the provided stake by screwing it into the bottom of the light. This was super easy. The light comes with a control box that needs to be plugged into the pigtail attached to the light assembly. This is a simple connection. After taking the light outside, I connected it to my existing low voltage landscape wire. The connector on the end of the control box is a snap connector. Place the connector over your wire and snap it so it pinches the wire, making contact with the copper strands. We have a dummy timer, not a fancy digital one. I turned the timer on and the light immediately illuminated. Great, it works! Now the frustrating part, the app. I have many smart devices in my house. I have Alexa, Google Home, iDevices, and several others. I setup every one of them without issue. This light took me 45 minutes to get to get the app to actually work. If you just want a white light, you can stop here and not download the app. I'm guessing nobody buys a smart led light if they don't intend on changing the colors. The manufacturer makes you download an app and register with an email. There's two ways to set up the light, with the QR code on the instruction pamphlet, or manually through the app. I scanned the QR code and could not get the light to connect to my wifi. I changed the setup on my router to 2.4GHZ as instructed. Still couldn't get a connection. The instructions say to turn the power on/off 5 times to reset the light. I used the pigtail/control box connector to do this. Each time, the app would act like it was working, but I couldn't get to final step in the setup. I then realized the light wanted to connect to a Smart Hub, so I linked it to my Google Home app on my phone. I still couldn't get the app to function as it should. Finally, I just decided to do the manual setup. That worked, but now, every time my timer comes on for the lights, I get a popup on my phone asking if I want to add the new light to a hub. The app functions for choosing a color or brightness is easy to figure out. Like any smart led light, there's a million colors you can choose from. On the brightest setting, this light blows away my existing landscape lights. I installed this light on the side of the house by the pool equipment in case I needed to address any issues after dark. Overall, this is a great light. If the app wasn't such a pain to set up, I would have rated it 5 stars. I just try to imagine my mother, or someone not technically inclined trying to get the app to work. For those that don't like having to register their products with an email, provide information to manufacturers, or connect devices to their wifi, you might want to reconsider if you want a smart light.

Hi Mike, thank you for your feedback. There should be an option to disable the pop up which asks if you want to add your light to a hub. There's also the possibility that your timer is somehow resetting your path light, causing it to fall off the network, hence the prompt to re-add it again. We'd love the chance to help you troubleshoot this. Head over to support.lifx.com to chat with us during business hours, or open up a support ticket. We can hopefully get this working as intended for you. Thanks again.

Light up the night…well at least the dark pathway.
We have been looking for lighting options for our front entry that has some dark areas and this LIFX pathway light fills the void. We have tried the solar powered lights but they are just not bright or clear enough. This light fits the build of our modern decor, and I love that it is so solidly built. Best of all it works for our intended purpose! Connecting the light to existing low voltage wiring is a breeze with the quick connectors. Also interfacing and controlling from our home automation is a plus, however I doubt we pathway use the different light effects as we just need the light which this performs perfectly.

          Other reviews must be fake
I bought 7 of these lights and they are by far the worst product sold at home depot. They are nearly impossible to get connected to your wifi. The physical set up take a few minutes but getting them properly functioning will take hours. Then you will be asked to reset the system and it will make you go through and connect each light again. I would bet the cost of the products that all the other reviews were sent the items for free and asked to review. These are complete garbage
