Q:How many C816 vents would be required to allow you 12 inch whilybird vent enough airflow?
by|Dec 1, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Gennifer from Lomanco here. Each 12" turbine requires 259 square inches of intake ventilation. The C816 NFA is 65 per vent. 259 divided by 65 would equal 3.99 and you would round up to 4 qty C816 vents total needed for 1 of our 12" turbines. Q:Does it have DUAL BEARINGS? Are they SEALED?
    by|Aug 2, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Gennifer from Lomanco here. The Whirlybird's bearings are sealed. They are permanently sealed in lubricant to keep dirt and moisture out. These upper and lower ball bearings are to ensure long life and no maintenance. Here is a link for more information regarding our bearings: http://media.lomancovents.com/all_access/sales_literature/lo461_turbine_bare_facts.pdf. Q:How will painting the unit affect the performance?
      by|Jul 29, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Gennifer from Lomanco here. Paint should not be pointed or applied near the bearings of the turbine. If paint is to somehow get in the bearings it could cause problems on the performance of the bearings, could cause them to prematurely go out and not spin as effectively as they should. If you have any additional questions, feel free to call and speak to Customer Service at 1-800-643-5596.

DIY wind Turbine Installation on Flat Roof
I bought this Lomanco whirlybird wind turbine after talking to Lomanco's engineering department. The engineer assured me it would work very good for our 16' x 22' flat roof garage in Green Valley, AZ. In fact, he said there was no need for us to spend $400 on their solar unit. Today 5-21-15 I built an 18" riser and installed the entire unit on our garage. The top extends about 6" above the Parepet wall, so it does get good air. Tomorrow I will apply roof coating. Entire cost $150.

There are better choices in turbines. Most of the time these are bought for replacements of existing fans and this brand is much more difficult to install. The screw placement to install the top portion is on the inside of the fan and should be on the outside for a much easier installation. The quality is good for the money but the extra time to install would lead me to a better choice of fan.

I installed my Whirlybird Turbine about a month ago and it works great, wasn't too hard to install. When I got it one side of the box was caved in but the turbine was OK thanks to the Home Depot employee that done a good job packing my order as they had some packing in the box that protected my turbine. it was delivered by UPS, it looked like maybe another heavy package fell on it in the truck, I think it will do a good job ventilate my garage. Thanks Home Depot.

Put screws through the holes in the turbine prior to installing. The holes are tight and make it really hard to install without widening the holes first.
