A:  Hello Dawn, to clean the outside of the pots and pans, you may use a copper cleaner to restore the look and shine of the Lagostina Martellata Copper Cookware Set.

Q:How thick is the copper on this set of cookware?
    by|Nov 19, 2018
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Although I don't own this particular set, mine is very similar made by Cuisieart. It seems "normal thickness". It's tri-ply, copper/aluminum/stainless steel, and heats up to your desired temp pretty quick, and KEEPS GETTING HOTTER, so play around with it and get used to the way it acts. It does stay hot even after you turn off the flame, so be aware. What this is not, is "tin-lined copper" or "copper-clad stainless steel". The aluminum core contributes to the heat-up and stay-hot feature of this cookware. Free tip: DO NOT leave it on the heat after serving (make sure you've turned it off, i mean). We did so in error and it was on there long enough that a bubble/bulge on the outside bottom of the larger pot appearred. The inside was fine so it didn't affect use, and it doesn't show, so all is good. Copper is fun to cook with, keeps food hotter and is worth the investment, but there is a learning curve.

      High quality and evenly cooks
I was disappointed by some reviews that were critical of this cookware, which motivated me to write my own. The cookware is high quality, and this can be seen through its weight, which provides more durability. A blue hue can develop if the pan is used on high heat, although I have not encountered this problem. My pan started to lose its once majestic shine, but I bought cooper polish to restore it to its former glory. I was having sticking problems, but I let the pan heat up with a little bit of oil and then swirled the oil to check whether the pan was thoroughly heated. If the oil flowed freely, then the pan was well heated, so I could begin cooking without worrying about sticking. Many of the negative reviews I read were from uninformed people who did not know how to properly maintain their pans and unknowingly believed the color would stay as beautiful forever, but beauty must be preserved. I've included in my photos a product I use to restore the copper finish to help out who is curious. To remove the stuck-on food, add water (no more than half full) and simmer on the lowest setting for at least an hour (check to make sure the water doesn't evaporate) and scrape gently with a wooden spoon to remove food without damaging your pan. I also suggest reading the guide that came with your pans; it is really helpful! Stay blessed, cooks!

NO sticking. And the stainless cleans up like a dream, while the copper insultantes & distributes!
Best pot & pans I’ve ever bought. There are more expensive lines of cookware—but, as a cook, this is the finest at this price point. I’ll never buy another set. The copper may be allowed to patina, or will clean up beautifully with Copperbrill—see photo. LOVE MY LAGOSTINA COOKWARE!

          Damaged out of the box
Item arrived damaged with many scratches on bottom of pan. Due to scratches it is clear the copper is thin. I am not "uneducated" when it comes to cookware. Yes this pan is heavy. Yes the handle is well secured. Handle has nice curve. It is "hard" to find quilty copper. The low price point reflects the thin copper. You are better off just getting a quilty tri-ply stainless without a thin copper coating.

            Great copper!
Great even cooking and great resilience on the copper color. Everyone giving these pots bad reviews don't understand that you need to clean the copper after each use to remove the patina. I use bar keepers friend, and in 20 seconds of the scrubbing side of a sponge it looks brand new. I've had my set for 2 years and couldn't be happier! We use these every day.

                Beautiful cookware
The ccokware couldn't be more beautiful. The stickers in the bottom of the pan couldn't be more difficult to remove. Why put them there at all. Everyone knows to wash new pan before use. Also, the online registration process sucks. NOWHERE is there a model number. I used the paper card to mail in the registration and wrote what I could find. Cookware good, getting labels off BAD and registration BAD.

Very pleased with the two pots I have
They clean right up in the dishwasher to sparkling new. I make a pot of home made soup every other day all winter long. I have been using these pots since last fall.

                    Beautiful and Functional
I could not be happier with this purchase. These pans are absolutely gorgeous and they cook like a dream! I think that the negative reviewers misunderstand how copper metal functions. It does tarnish and there is an extra step in maintaining their beautiful shine, but this is something I am willing to do in exchange for esthetic quality of the hammered copper. For example, when they arrived, there were some tarnish spots on the copper of some of the pans, but those came off immediately with the application of copper cleaning paste, which I am using as needed to keep the finish looking new. Most importantly, the pans are very well made, non-stick, and function exactly as advertised. I love them!

                      Even heating,no sticking.
I just used my copper eight inch, and is fantastic. These other people do not know what they are talking about. The pan came triple boxed, no damage. Eggs do not stick. I’m looking forward to getting more cookware.

                        Worst Ever
It’s a chore to polish the copper color after every use. But aside from that , EVERYTHING sticks in it. Making eggs is an awful experience in these pans. The price had me expecting so much more . I would not recommend and I definitely wouldn’t buy them again .
