Questions & Answers

Can this be used over a primer

Asked by: Gail
I did not use this over primer. But I did use it over the existing paint (outside deck) and it worked well. Oh, after applying the oil bond, then the oil bond/paint mixture, I did apply a coat of hard bond/paint mixture as the final coat. It held up well through the remainder of the summer and fall. It is seeing its first winter (in northern Ohio) right now. So I don't have any long term results or comments yet.

Can you use a paint sprayer with this product??

Asked by: Jen
Yes, you can use a sprayer. I am doing mine in sections so I am using a foam roller and brush and am very happy with the results. On the cabinets around the stove I also used a deglosser since those cabinets have a 25 year grease build up.

I have trim and bead board paneling painted with latex then topcoat with polyurethane. The polyurethane has caused a yellow tint and now my wife would like the original color again. Can I use this product (as directed) then apply a high gloss latex paint over it without sanding etc?
Asked by: Mayor
I built a workshop out of old (probably 40yrs) kitchen cabinets that had poly. The only thing I did was wipe them down with simple green, let dry, then paint. They turned out great. The only thing I didn't realize was that the oil bond lightened the paint color a bit because it's white. I was pleased with the color but it was a little lighter.

Our Oil based doors were re-painted with Latex. SOME Latex is pealing off, but not all of it. So the existing bond is not great between the two; should the Latex be sanded? Will the Oil Bond product penetrate the Latex so that I don't have to sand? Thank You.
Asked by: TerryD
Did not work for me. Sanding is always the answer.
