Q:Can it be used outdoor?

Answer This Question

A:  Not without proper protection.

by|May 15, 2022

    A:  both indoor and outdoor

    by|Mar 21, 2022

A:  It can be used outdoor, but not left there. It is not weather proof.

A:  It is not waterproof, but in can be used outdoors as much as a normal extension cord, which also is not waterproof. Make sure that any cord plugged in and used outdoors is plugged into a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) which is the type of outlet normally found in bathrooms and has a test and reset button on the face of it.

Q:I accidentally cut my cord near end of the cord. Can I just take off the plug or connector and put it back on the cord? Why would I need to buy a new one? When all I have to do is take the plug off, shorten the cord a little and put the plug back on.

          Answer This Question

A:  Yes, that is one of the uses for that cord outlet. As long as used within rating and device manufacturer the cord connects to doesn't specify otherwise

A:  Depending on what you mean by colder temperatures. I've had mine outside all winter long for Christmas Decorations a few years in a row now without any issues. Granted I live in SC, it gets below freezing a few times a year and I have not had any issues with it

Solid construction from a little tool. The connection screws are very secure and you have enough room to get 3 wires snug within the outlet cover. The plug fits easily into the wall outlet and there are no issues with connections. No sparks, no sizzles. The plug is clean and should last a long time. Connecting the wires is made easy by releasing both caps. Simply push in to release the plastic tabs that hold it together.

The receptacle on my new 12/3 extension cord melted when the leaf blower I bought from Home Depot burst into flames (see pic). I ordered this based on the description, "Built-in cord grip adjusts automatically for use with 18-12 AWG". I should have read the Q&A before ordering, because you can make it fit, by notching the sheathing (see pic), but it clearly is not designed for 12/3 ... nor outside use. I love the simple clamshell design, and it is definitely worth the price ... but the fact it is designed for indoor 16/3, makes me question the value. 12/3 is expensive, but Home Depot sells 25' 16/3 single receptacle cords for $10 (I have never used a cord longer than 25' indoors). Tools out to clean up, it took me about half an hour to install.

            3 Pole Grounding Cord Outlet
Need to replace my 75' outlet plug since it was worn and need to be replace. It was simple to replace it. Make sure the black (hot) goes on the brass screw and the white (neutral) wire goes on the silver and the green (ground) wire goes on the green screw. I like the one piece and the it hinges. Only one screw holds it together. It hold the cord tight in the plug. I ran several tools off it and it didn't get warm. Good product for the price.

Not good. No way to really clamp out cable to outlet once the 3 wires are exposed to attached to the screws inside of the plug.

Had to settle for a lesser product than what I had bought at Depot in the past. Space on the shelf for the product I wanted was labeled as before but not stocked.
