Will these hinges allow a door to open 180 degrees? If not, how far will it open?
Asked by: questionaire
questionaire, Thank you for your question. This hinge does not have a degree of opening as it will open a full 180 degrees. Typically if it is a restricted degree, (i.e. 105, 90, etc.) it will be in the description of the product. Best, Customer Care Team

I'm replacing non closing hinges with these. The ones I have now look the same as the self closers. Do I need to use both self closing hinges to close the door or will one self close and one standard hinge work?

As long as the holes line up, you'll like them. Ours did, and they (original US hinges) were made in the Sixties...

How does this go on door....there are no specifics in the packaging.

I put them on the door the way I thought they should go and it was wrong.
Asked by: BBoy
BBoy The hinge pair comes with 6 smaller screws and 4 slightly larger ones. Your doors must be about 3/4" thick, maybe as thin as 1/2". Mount the flat part with 3 holes on the back side of the door, one hinge about 4" from the top and the other about 4" from the bottom (adjust distance to suite appearance), using the 6 smaller screws. Then put the door in the position you want, FLATTEN THE HINGE AGAINST THE FRAME, and drill your two mounting holes for each hinge. Flattening the hinge is important because otherwise the self-closing spring will cock the hinge at an angle, resulting in slightly offsetting the horizontal location of your door. Use a self-centering drill bit to center the pilot hole in the hinge if at all possible. Secure each hinge to the cabinet frame with 2 of the longer screws. Because these hinges mount on the front frame of the cabinet they provide an overlay to the door; andmust be placed to account for the amount of door overlay you have (i.e. how much wider the cabinet door is than the cabinet opening.) An overlay of 1/2" works well with these hinges, resulting in holes that are about 7/8" in from the inside edge of your cabinet frame. I hope that helps.

It was so easy with these! I replaced all 62 of my kitchen cabinet hinges with these new ones after I painted my cabinets. Love the look! I used the old hinge holes to determine where the new ones should go. Only problem is they squeak when opening. Has anyone else had this problem? Let me know! Thanks!

I purchased twenty pair of these hinges in white as replacements yesterday from a Home Depot store. Working leisurely, all forty hinges were successfully installed in about an hour and a half. Each package had the correct number of screws and each hinge was in good condition. All doors self-close correctly. I find it difficult to understand some of the negative reviews. I can only conclude that at least some people bought the wrong hinge style, especially those who complained that the doors overlapped. Using the correct hinge, that would be impossible.

I purchased 40 of these hinges for my kitchen remodel, the self -closing feature is nice keeping my older refinished cabinet doors fully shut while in the closed position. The finish matched my cabinet door pulls, as well as the screws. The phillips head screws came in two sizes, a shorter length to mount the three hole hinge assembly to the door and a slightly longer length to mount the assembled door to the cabinet facings; as well as a package of black felt door bumpers, which was a bonus. The bad, About one out of ever ten pack was bent slightly, to the point it would make the cabinet door mount crooked. And the shorter of the two screws (for three hole side) were slightly deformed, but there were more than enough in the kit so i just didnt use them.

I picked up 12 of these at my local home depot in brushed nickel since they matched my old, antique brass hinges. Got them home and was prepared to redo 6 doors when I discovered the door wing (3 hole) portion of the hinge is 1/4" shorter than the hinges I was replacing!!! Nuts! I returned the hinges to my local store and have ordered a different manufacturer's product (same style) on line from Home Depot. Hopefully the door wing will be the correct width!

After waiting two weeks for a delayed shipment, I discovered that the door wing was shorter than the original parts that I am replacing. The parts were well made but the wrong size for my replacement project. I returned them all to the Hillsboro store for full refund.

A good replacement for my tired hinges, but not a perfect fit due to a smaller mounting surface on the overlay. I took off a star because apparently, through cost cutting, someone made the overlay flap smaller than the old versions. I had to drill new holes (see photos). The good news is that the front (exposed) mounting aligned perfectly, even though it is a slightly different shape. The screws are in the same position. On the back overlay flap, the flap covers all the old holes, so it looks fine there too. Despite these glitches, I still recommend this product to replace those old, tired hinges. It is great to have lively doors again. Our most used 35 year old cabinet doors did not self-close anymore. With this fairly easy replacement, they now close great. Problem solved. Be aware that two of the screws are longer, and with a round head. These go outside on the frame. The other 3 are inside and are flat head. My 35 year old hinges were the same way, so it was easy to follow the pattern. Made in China.

Replaced a few of the cabinets' hinges with these as they lined up perfectly. The only drawback, and therefore 4 stars, is that they are made in China. Our originals were stamped USA! Hopefully the U.S. will compete soon enough again...
