Can this product eventually be sanded down/refinished years down the road?

Asked by AP May 9, 2021

No, sanding and refinishing of this product are not recommended. Sanding this product would remove the protective finish, the waterproof properties, and the warranty. This flooring is manufactured to last for years and shouldn't require sanding.

Lifeproof engineered click hardwood flooring is a great product for the DIYer. I tested its claims to be dent and scratch resistant, and waterproof. My dog's nails do not scratch the flooring, and a screwdriver dropped point down on it left no mark. Water left on (and between) planks for 12 hours wiped off with no signs of damage. I recommend watching a YouTube video on installing click engineered hardwood flooring before installing this. The included instructions are good; it just helps to see it done. The main thing is to get the planks lined up against the wall with the expansion spacing, and perfectly aligned so that all additional planks can be securely clicked. My one concern about this flooring is that at 7mm (just over a quarter inch) it's not as thick as other engineered flooring products but its lifetime warranty from Home Depot is reassuring. The product is sold exclusively at Home Depot.

Product seems fine for all the longer its been installed. I was very annoyed when i nearly ran short on material and tried to purchase more but it was 'discontinued'. This seems to happen alot with Home Depots flooring materials. Will make it very tough to match rooms.

I purchased 1,500+ square feet of this floor without actually seeing it in person. There was not a sample board in the store. The floor I wanted was backordered so I had to take a chance and pick something. My contractor needed the floor. I wanted a dark floor. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Not disappointed at all. Everyone that sees it loves & asks what color it is.

Extremely fragile and unforgiving
As I cut the pieces and put them in place literally every piece splintered in different spots during the process. I’ve put down the lifeproof vinyl plank with great success. The engineered hardwood is very pretty, but I think the concept of using it as a floating plank is a bad idea. I’m exchanging it for the vinyl plank.
