Questions & Answers

Q:loctite pl 375 does it work on foam board insulation?
by|Oct 17, 2014
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Loctite PL375 can be used on most foam insulation boards applications so long as the other surface is porous. It is best to apply the adhesive to the foamboard first. PL375 is not recommended for film-faced foamboard.

      Worthless Adhesive!
I'm a construction professional and have used thousands of tubes of adhesive. I used PL 375 as recommended to build a small step, gluing paving bricks to concrete. 10 days later this adhesive has not set and is nearly as soft as fresh from the tube! Bond strength is so low I can easily scrape PL 375 off the bricks! Good adhesive would be set so hard it would take a hammer and pry bar to seperate remove a brick...and then you would probably break it. Do not buy this product!! Whats hard to understand is PL 400 is a excellent product. The difference is probably petroleum vs. water base.

      Stay away from this product
I used 2 tubes of PL375 to "try" to glue down a garage door threshold on concrete. After several days of curing it came right up. It had very poor adhesion to both surfaces. I literally removed from both surfaces by rolling my thumb over it. On the good side at least it bonds well to itself, once I got a corner started with my thumb I could pull decent size strips of the glue.

      Works Fine
I used this for securing pressure treated lumber to concrete blocks for a shed foundation. Easy to dispense, cured fairly quickly, so no complaints here.

        Works wonders!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a few months back and man, I have been using it on everything. The PL 375 Heavy Duty Adhesive works with so many things. I have used it on my construction site for wood and metals. It actually holds up amazingly. Its sets up rather quickly. Clean up is a breeze if you get it everywhere.

          Holds up well
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used this brand before but was skeptical about this particular product. I used this around the door base and floor covering of a shed I have in the backyard. It has already taken quite a beating and is holding up well in heavy traffic areas. It has been a couple of months since I applied it. I am not skeptical anymore!

            strong bond
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just bought a house and wanted to get a couple pieces of trim reattached before winter. I location was awkward so I could not completely attach the trim using nails, so I used this as well to fix the trim in place. This is a temporary fix in areas where a contractor will be renovating in the spring. The adhesive was a little sloppy and hard to control at first, but overall went on well and provided a strong bond that has lasted through the early winter storms. I may use it in a couple areas that need a long-term fix, too, because it seems very durable. Time will tell.

              Nice hold
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to fix some dog kennels that my puppies broke. I used it to put a corner back on that broke completely off and it is holding nicely. I also used it on a friends boat to mount something on the sidewall. It is still holding. I like this product

                Great hold!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used this for many different projects and I’m never disappointed. The hold on this is incredible. It’s definitely strong enough for large projects, although I’ve used it for smaller ones also. I’ve used it to hold together a piece of my vacuum that snapped off and it was great! Definitely a must have for any do-it-yourselfer.
