They now have simple on/off switch for that purpose. Still need the “bridge” to make it accessible from your phone or while away from home.
No. You have to change the wiring from “3way” to regular switch and use the remote as your other switch. I just converted my hallway from “3”way” to accommodate this issue. It was a little time consuming and you have to have some experience with electrical to make it work but it can be done.
That is complicated. It is a function of the size of your house and its construction (number of walls & materials) as well as potential interference if you are close to neighbors. We have only one "smart bridge" in a large house, but the Caseta devices are in a relatively small radius around it (no more than about 20 ft), max 2 walls in between hub & devices, and our neighbors are pretty far away. Our system works reliably. My suggestion would be to start with one unit, as centrally located in your house as possible. If you have problems with any Caseta units, add a 2nd bridge & separate them closer to the devices as appropriate.
All of the above answers are correct. Additionally, if you choose to use any of the Lutron partners such as Logitech Harmony home theater remote control, you will need the bridge to integrate With the logitech bridge. These two systems work quite well together. They are also very easy to set up especially if you use your smart phone to initialize them.

Yes. I recommend to anyone interested to start with this kit. It comes with everything you need to get started controlling your system. This kit is nice because it allows you to start with 2 separate areas. I started out this way and have added all lights on first floor of my house, all exterior lights and upstairs hallways. Moving to the basement next. The app allows remote control of lights even when not home. Nice feature to be able to turn on lights when your on the way home at night. Also allows you to program your lights to go on and off at various times. Great feature when on vacation because you can make your home look occupied by programming different lights to go on and off at different times giving appearance that someone is moving room to room. I love the products in this series and continue to grow my system. I recommend this to anyone who asks or thinking about it.
Works great with Alexa!
No. You need to buy the on/off lutron caseta switch. I forget the model number but it’s the one without the dimming function.
Yes, you will receive two switches and two remotes as well as one wireless smart bridge.
Wiring is definitely required. These switches will replace the current wall switch that is already controlling your recessed lights. It will have to be installed and you will need to turn off the breaker for this circuit. You won't need to run any new wiring (most likely) but you will need to be able to replace the entire switch at home. If you want a solution that doesn't require rewiring anything, you can try a smart bulb like a Philips Hue or something like that.
