A:  The AYLV-600P is only designed to control 600W of incandescent/halogen or 450W of halogen on a magnetic low voltage transformer. Please reach out to our 24/7 Support Team at support@Lutron.com or by phone at 1 (844) 588-7661 for assistance with your inquiry.

Q:Does this dimmer require a Nextra wire? I only have a black and a white coming out of my wall switch.

      Answer This Question

A:  This product can be installed with only two wires as long as you follow the NEC for installing a dimmer without a ground. I have outlined these guidelines bellow which can be found in the installation guide for this product. "When no “grounding means” exists within the wallbox for an existing switch or dimmer, the 2011 National Electrical Code (NEC) allows a switch/dimmer to be installed as a replacement as long as 1) a nonmetallic, noncombustible faceplate is used with nonmetallic attachment screws or 2) the circuit is protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter. The 2008 NEC has the same allowances but does not contain the requirement for nonmetallic attachment screws."

Q:my puck lights are flicking why?they are hard wired

          Answer This Question

A:  We typically see lights flickering on a dimmer if they are some type of CFL or LED lighting. There are a few reasons why these load types may cause some issues when placed on a dimmer. The first is that not all of them are dimmable. Even with the ones that are dimmable, some are designed to only work with specific dimmers (and specific transformers if the pucks are low voltage). Because of the sensitivity of LED lighting, the performance can vary greatly from one to the next. The AYLV-600P is unfortunately only rated for incandescent or halogen bulbs, so if you are using CFL or LED pucks, we would strongly suggest contacting the LED manufacturer to determine what type of dimmer should be used with the bulbs you have. If you are using incandescent or halogen bulbs, that is a very strange symptom and we would suggest giving our 24/7 Technical Support a call at 800-523-9466 where we can try to help figure out what could be going on in this application.

A:  Without seeing or knowing what fixtures you have, or if this dimmer is what is controlling them, we cannot assist you further without getting more information from you. It could be various reasons why your lights are working properly, but if you let us know, if they are on a dimmer and what type (xenon, halogen, CFL, LED) they are. Joseph

            Specialty Dimmer
This dimmer was a specialty item and is not carried in most stores. I was grateful to see it online and have it shipped for free to my neighborhood Home Depot. There may be other uses for this dimmer but it is the only type that will safely dim a low-voltage transformer for 12-V lamps. Yes, it is just a utility item but lived up to all that it claimed.

the product, dimmer, is good; however, it may be improperly paired via Home Depot w/ Pixi LED "Flatlight"
Although the dimmer is good, when installed with Pixi "Flatlight", the light often flickers -- a strong flicker which annoys & distracts guests. The flicker is intermittent and seems to come-and-go with no adjustment of the dimmer. I have (10) Pixi lamps installed on (5) dimmer circuits; all flicker. (Ref: Pixi model # FLT22R27MD3644; sku # 0000-937-428). At my local Home Depot Jim Tyson and mgr Tom Cari were tremendously helpful -- a very pleasant experience.

Does what it is supposed to do.
I needed a low voltage dimmer to work my dimmable LED's and chose this one. It works as expected.
