There is a battery pack under the sink or you can have it hardwired. The batteries actually last a long time. Regular use is 4-6 months.

When using the upper sensor, will the water shut off automatically after a period of time if left unattended? If so, is there a way to over-ride this feature?
Asked by: Matt
I read through the user manual and there is no automatic function to shut off the faucet after an extended period of being left on. The faucet can be turned on continuous with the Wave sensor or the handle. Like any conventional faucet, if you leave it on and walk away if will stay on. I turned it on with the Wave sensor and then disconnected the power and the faucet stayed on.

Arbor Single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer Touchless Kitchen Faucet with MotionSense in Chrome is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 426.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beginning to doubt Moen reliability I bought this faucet almost exactly 5 years ago. It began acting up after 3 years, and Moen replaced the main assembly (the control box - not the electronic module or the above the counter portion). It worked so-so since then. At random times since new, it would fail to respond to any motion. I would have to unplug the battery box and plug it back in to reset the faucet. Sometimes it would just turn on and run by itself for 20-30 seconds. The last time this happened, luckily I was home because it turned on and stayed on -- I had to turn off the water supply. I had to unplug/plug the battery box several times before it would turn off. Water flow in manual mode has always been very low. I have removed and cleaned the screens, which is itself a big pain in the butt, but that makes no difference. Now, the motion part of the faucet will not turn on at all -- even with new batteries. This faucet is way too expensive to not last 5 years. I'm just inside the warranty, so I'll give them a chance to fix this once and for all, but if I can't get it working with good flow, I'm done with Moen.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product has flaws The sensor on the front of the faucet should be completely eliminated. It is constantly turning on when I'm washing dishes or just draining pasta and it runs unwanted water all over my food. Since it doesn't conduct hot water, while I'm doing dishes it is constantly turning on and putting cool water into my hot water. If I turn the faucet to the other sink side it works fine because the sensor doesn't see movement but then I have to keep moving the faucet back and forth when I'm trying to rinse my soapy dishes to keep the soap off the draining dishes in the other sink. It can be confusing as well. Sometimes the bottom sensor turns the water on but you have to touch the top sensor to turn it off. I really feel this is a huge flaw and this sensor should be removed, leaving only the sensor on the top. If I hadn't paid so much for it I'd get rid of it and buy a new one. Also the batteries don't last very long and it takes a lot of batteries to run it.

Water flow in manual mode has always been low. Following a recent repipe, I removed and cleaned the two inline screens but that hasn't improved anything. The faucet would occasionally stop responding to motion, requiring me to unplug/re-plug the battery box to reset. Sometimes, the unit turns on by itself with nobody even in the room. The last time it did this, I had to unplug/re-plug the battery box three times before it would turn off again. Moen has already replaced the control box once, and now it no longer detects motion. Luckily I'm just inside the 5-year warranty on the electronics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features I had t installed by a professional, which I would recommend. Works like a charm. Of course, we did not read the instruction booklet and wound up shutting off both sensors by accident(the book tells you how to do that on purpose if you want to). So when I finally read the booklet after trying to figure out how to reset the sensors on my own. I read how easy it was to 'reboot' which I did, but without paying attention to the part that says that you can't have anything, including your body parts, within 3 feet of the sensors during the 10 second reboot time. So I called the Moen support number. James was extremely helpful and walked me through making sure the #4 filter was clean, which was easy to do. Any then he walked me through the reboot procedure, warning me to keep my body below the sink so as not to be near the sensors during the 10 second reboot. Everything now works fine and I learned a lot about the filter, the reboot procedure and how great support is. Thanks James and Moen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sensor recaliperation... I just installed this unit and think it is amazing. I had one issue with the foward facing sensor. It seemed that every time I put something under the faucet, I would need to be about 2" away from the sensor for it to work. After reading the comments on this site, I found that someone else had the same problem. Fortunately, a Moen representative responded with a solution to this problem. So if you installed this unit and happen to notice that the forward facing sensor is not working as good as it should, then do this: "In regards to the Ready sensor, this may need to be rebooted if during the initial installation someone or something was within three feet of the sensor which may have impacted the calibration. The sensor needs a minimum of a three foot clear space to calibrate the sensor distance. To reboot the system remove all items from inside and in front of the sink. Remove the battery cable from the grey control box under the sink. Wait one minute, then plug the battery pack back into the control box. You will hear the water turn on and off. The faucet has re-calibrated and you may now stand up and test your sensors."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Faucet! We had the Moen MotionSense installed by a professional handyman a month ago and so far, it's working perfectly. The installer removed the old faucet and put this one in within 45 minutes and it worked as advertised immediately. My husband was skeptical about going with this one, but is now loving it too. The pull-down sprayer retracts effortlessly and the sprayer button is easy to use. Unlike other reviewers on Amazon, the water pressure we have with this faucet is very good. Features we really like in addition to motion sensors are: 1) the ability to set the temperature as you desire on the control box for the motion sense flow and 2) being able to turn one or both of the sensors off as needed. Highly recommend the AC adapter so you don't have to worry about batteries running out periodically. And the stainless truly is spot resistant. Altogether, a great purchase and seems to be a terrific product. .

Have "reset" several times but still shuts off. Still waiting for Moen to respond on how to resolve. Maximum water pressure is much less than regular faucet. Only looks good but would not recommend for functionality.

I really like the faucet and it has really amused everyone that uses it even the plumber who installed it. I do wish it could be hardwired rather than usibg six AA Batteries.
