Q:Just installed this refrigerator and noticed there is a white piece of plastic about 2 inches tall and 7 inches long that is attached to the ice maker lever. The manual does not show this attached to the ice maker handle. Is for shipping or do I leave it?

Good fridge, sucky ice maker
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fridge works great and freezer works great. Ice maker is a huge disappointment. It is the loudest icemaker we have ever owned. When it drops ice at night it sounds like someone trying to break into the house. Also, it keeps jamming up in the spout where it comes out and we have to keep breaking up the cubes to get them to come out.

Great fridge!

Buy something else if you can
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this becuase it was available the same day and it has a 10 year warranty on the compressor. When I got it home, I had to take the doors off to get it inside, and I had to do the same for the Samsung I was removing (this one was about 10 years old. compressor failed). The build is way behind for the Maytag. 4 small screws holding on the freezer drawer, 3 small screws holding on each door without any backing plate. The shelves are cheaply made. And now that it has run for a month+ there is constandy water on the seals at the top of the freezer. Next time I will buy a Samsung and wait the 7 to 10 days for delivery/

Although a Maytag, the side by side installed with the purchase of our home wasn't cutting it. My wife USES her kitchen and grumbled about the long and deep capacity and always digging things from behind out with the side by side. Birthday Brilliance - replaced a perfectly good refrigerator (now used in Basement as overflow) with the French Door by Maytag as a surprise. It was well received and well loved...the ease of reaching and storing without digging makes a happier kitchen and the storage capacity, lighting and overall layout is excellent. I would recommend making yourself or someone you love happy with this purchase..and..the price was great by comparison to other brands.
