Buyer Beware. Unfortunately I got one of the many units that was under a safety recall. That's when the fun began. So far in over a month of dealing with Midea trying to get a refund for this defective 8kbtu unit I have been lied to, hung up on, lied to again, had my refund canceled with zero notice or explanation and finally today was told when i called to inquire where my refund was that they would resubmit the refund request which would restart the 14-21 business day process. Hopefully this time I will finally get my money back for this defective item. Unfortunately after this experience I couldn't and wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Keeps the whole house cool, not just the one room. It’s also very energy efficient. Great product !

We have an A-frame house with an upstairs loft room. The central air conditioner never quite cools the upstairs room making it tough to sleep up there in the summer. We decided to try this Midea 6,000 BTU U+ Smart Inverter Window Air Conditioner for Rooms up to 250 Sq. Ft. This has a unique U-shaped design that allows the window to go in the center between the compressor unit and the inside portion. This allows the window to be closed almost all the way and the remaining opening gets covered by a foam piece. The air conditioner unit also comes with the outside support bracket. Installation is fairly easy but the installation instructions were a bit difficult for me to comprehend. Once I found a video documenting how to install it, it was much easier. After installation, I looked over the controls which are on the front of the unit as well as the included remote control. This unit can be used for cooling, fan, and dehumidifier settings. Chances are I would only use this for cooling but it’s nice to have the other features. When I turned the unit on, it quickly began cooling the room. I noticed that it seemed to make about the level of noise you would expect from a window air conditioner. After turning it on, it didn’t take long before the room became noticeably cooler. I was definitely impressed with this air conditioner and I would recommend it.

I give it 4 stars primarily because the AC unit is primo! Very quiet (45 db) and cools the room down quickly. I find operating the unit in DRY mode is sufficient to keep me comfortable. I subtracted 1 star for the 20 step Rube Goldberg installation process which did not work for me. The 300 character limit for this review is not nearly enough to cover my installation issues. Suffice to say, it was not a smooth process.

I absolutely love Midea window air conditioners. They are the best units on the market as far as I’m concerned. I have a lot of history with Midea window air conditioners, and I can speak with confidence of quality, efficiency, smart features, easy installation, and cooling capabilities. My observations: • No assembly needed. Installation is about as easy as it gets. The directions included are clear and there are plenty of excellent installation videos from Midea that make it easy to get up and running quickly. Plan for 30 minutes. Some people will have it installed in 15 minutes or less. • If appearance is important, you will love this unit. It looks so nice in your home and looks very modern. • This unit is 6000 BTU which is perfect for a bedroom or office. We have central AC, but we have two upstairs rooms that get warm in the summer. This makes the room the coolest in entire home. • It has a smart inverter which means it will use very little energy. You will barely notice a difference in your energy bill if you do at all. • The remote works perfectly. I use the app most of the time, which is excellent. I like all the features in the app and the ease of use. The app provides a lot of control and features. With Wi-Fi, the smart features are amazing. Too many to mention here. • We’ve been dealing with 100-degree weather this summer and the unit is holding up nicely • Inside the box is a weatherstripping kit that will meet the needs of 99% of people to get a tight seal. • It runs quietly. Real quiet. Of course, all AC’s make their own unique set of noises while powering up and cycling, but this is quietest window AC I’ve owned. • Maintenance is simple and cleaning the reusable filter only takes a few moments. • The U-Shape is wonderful. Having almost your entire window available and in place is huge. It also makes weather-proofing the window simple. • I run this in typical AC/cool mode most of the time, but you can also use it ‘dry’ mode, ‘fan’ mode, or ‘auto’ mode. Overall, this is an excellent product. I doubt there is a better choice in the market. Just pick the right BTUs for your room and you will love your Midea U-shaped window air conditioner. I recommend.

If you need the perfect a/c window unit to cool a room then this is it. The 6000 BTU’s will cool a room with little effort. This unit is very quiet and everything runs smooth. The remote control is a nice accessory with multiple functions. The installation was super easy with well detailed instructions. Everything you need is in the box except for a few standard tools. Great window unit that should last for many years. Everything is well made with quality materials.

I got this as a room air conditioner. I opened the box and removed the ac unit and parts. When I opened the front cover, two pieces of the hinge were broken off. When i installed the bracket, one of the rubber feet was missing. When I turned the unit on, the fan sounds like it is hitting something and is very noisy. The unit blew cool but not cold air; I could not see it cooling a room adequately.

This 6,000 BTU U+ Smart Inverter Window Air Conditioner for Rooms up to 250 Sq. Ft. remote and Wi-Fi in White is my second Midea U Shaped AC unit. My first unit is 4+ years old and is still going strong. The design of these units is what separates them from the rest. The window can be accessed for fresh air during the off season and the design makes installation a breeze. Not all installations are the same on any window unit installation, so careful planning and manual reviewing is paramount to a quality install. I have a vinyl 32-inch window with an integrated screen, so the support bracket is the key to my installation. The bracket assembly covers the bottom lip and is adjustable for most applications. The instructions are well-illustrated and east to follow. I added more foam insulation and AC foil tape for an airtight installation. These items are sold here at The Home Depot. The unit powers up quietly and the front panel has low lit controls on the face. The remote feels solid and is backlit for easy navigation. The smart features are cool if needed and I am new to this tech so will be getting assistance from my children here. The unit is extremely quiet and doesn't shake the walls when the compressor starts up. The airflow is simple to adjust and the air on high throws out a significant breeze. This unit is very energy efficient and my older unit still operates the same as the day it was installed. This unit has a dehumidifying feature that works really well. Houses today are tightly sealed verses the older homes of yesteryear that have common mold issues. This helps to control this without the need to purchase a standalone unit. So, you are getting two units in one. AC mode removes moisture in summer and the unit dehumidifies in winter. Cool! I have own many AC units in the past 45 years and this is one of the most value packed and dependable units out there. If you are looking for a quality unit and a unit that allows window use, then this is a very wise choice. I highly recommend this Brand. Very nice!

My main a/c system was not working so this unit was perfect for my bedroom. The unit is quiet and keeps the bedroom very cool.

I live in the mountains of coastal California. I lived here for quite a few years without air conditioning but with the recent increase in temperatures I finally decided that it was going to continue to be uncomfortable without cooling. I am using this unit to cool the entire center of my house even though it is about 500 square feet and the unit is only rated for 250 square feet. This might not work in a really hot city like Phoenix but our temperatures are not nearly as high and as long as I start the cooling early it keeps the house at a nice level. Installation of this cooler was relatively easy. I have used window air conditioners in the past and this one was the easiest to install I have even done. It would have helped if the QR code in the instructions worked. When I scanned it I got an error message “This QR code isn’t active right now” That isn’t a big problem since I just looked up installs online, but it would have been helpful to have the real thing. The written instructions are entirely adequate for the install. I noticed in all the online videos, installers were using screws to secure the unit to the window. The unit came with several sizes of screw and the only place that the installation instructions used a screw was to fix the anti tip brackets in place. My theory is that the instructions are aimed at renters/apartment dwellers where you can’t just sink screws into the window frame. In any case the mounting system is exceptional.. The heavy parts are outside and are supported by a fold down leg/brace that can be adjusted without any tools. I used several of the provided screws just to make sure that the unit was solid. Another thing that was relatively unclear in the instructions was how to make sure that the air conditioner was centered in the window. For some reason the tabs that the body slides onto are not in the center of the mounting bracket. You have to compensate for the off center bracket. One of the best features of the unit is that while it took a couple of hours for the initial installation it is going to be super easy to remove it in the winter and reinstall it next summer. So far this unit is doing a great job of keeping my house cool in temperatures that are just under 100 degrees so I am happy with my choice of only using a 6000 BTU size. This U shaped unit is as quite as Midea claims. Since I intend to run it at night as well as in the daytime the super low noise is a real plus. The other window air conditioners that I have owned in the past were very annoying if you were trying to sleep. I don’t think this conditioner will bother me or my wife at all. After reading reviews on this Brand I was worried about the mold problems due to retained water. However, this unit drips on one of our outside plants and keeps it watered. I assume that the dripping will mean that there is not an excess of retained water and that the mold problem has been solved.
