Q:After reading the reviews, it looks like the only issue is with the plastic collar overheating, melting and breaking. Did they ever fix the issue with this. Waiting on this before I decide to purchase one.

A:  Yes, they fixed the problem. I bought my soldering iron from this exact product page on October 26, 2023. I have heated it up for use numerous times without any signs of melting. Very pleased and highly recommend!

          Answer This Question

A:  Yes, they fixed the problem. Mine was purchased in October 2023 from this product page. The listing pictures are now incorrect as Milwaukee has redesigned the collar to use screws. I have not noticed any kind of melting problems. Rest assured.

A:  I just bought one and it has a new collar on it held down with 4 screws. It look a lot beefier than the previous generation. Hopefully it fixes the problem

NO Product Design issue it Melts !
I own a lot of Milwaukee cordless products. I haven't had much issues until I used this product. Yes I fell victim to the Melt Down. After 15mins of used the plastic collar melted and the tip bent over. Milwaukee needs to recall this defected product too many customers have had the same melting issues... This is impacting your brand. I sign of a good company is what they do when there products are defective don't be a Boeing.

Yes, turn off as soon as possible to prevent fail.
Get hot and ready to use quickly. My first Milwaukee soldering iron lasted about 3 years of light use. My tip stopped getting hot, green light flashing. Bought a new one today.

Love it when it’s working, right
I use this tool for small projects in my garage, such as working on my Harley or wiring up a stereo in a car. This is the second soldering iron I’ve had from Milwaukee for the most part when it’s working right it’s amazing I’ve noticed that the tip heats up and the end of it melts off from the plastic molding on both of the s irons I’ve had

                    They re-designed the collar/crown.
Looks like they redesigned the collar/crown from the previous generation. Hopefully this stops the melting issue. I saw this was a newer model and decided to give it a try.

                      Impressed at first
Loved it while it worked. Had it on one day for 3-5 munites, picked it up and the plastic around the heating element was melting. Have a dozen or so M12 tools, this one just wasnt up to par.

                        Swing and a miss!
Worked great for the first two 2.0 batteries then fell flat on its face and will not even get warm enough to melt butter. Great concept, but proven to be low end product severely lacking in longevity and durability. A one day wonder….

                          Great idea, bad implementation
Great product... if it works. Have the same melting problem as many others. Tool is perfect, comfortable to use, fast heating and ready for work. But after several small jobs done, the plastic part holding tip just melted. Seems, engineering fail, that part should be metal or more durable plastic.

Hopefully this one will last longer than my last one...
Hopefully this one will last longer than my last one probably only got 3-4 years out of it. It obviously works well or I would not repurchase product again.

Plastic collet that holds tip melted after five minutes of using. With exception of that, it worked great for five minutes.
