    A:  Always consult your dishwasher manufacturer for specifications regarding the salt used; however, Morton® Coarse Kosher Salt works well in most models. Morton® Coarse Kosher Salt is a non-iodized, granulated salt compacted into coarse flakes. This product contains a water soluble anti-caking agent.

      A:  The difference between the two choices is the crystals are smaller (smaller than an m&m but slightly larger than course size) pieces and the pellets are larger, uniform, molded small pillows (don't recall the size). The makers of my water softener suggested to use the crystals because they easier to dissolve but if pillows are the only choice, they worked for me too. Also, crystals fill in the gaps better in the salt tank.

        A:  Solar salt is sea salt that is produced by evaporation of seawater. Therefore, they call it solar salt, which is beneficial to our water softeners.

            Morton salt used for my RainSoft water softener and reverse osmosis (RO) for drinking water and my ice maker. I recently upgraded to the new maintenance free filters that dont require weekly back washing and annual replacement. The old RO tank was tied into the new RO tank giving me 4 gallons of RO water. I love that my system is all located in the garage and not wasting space under the kitchen sink. A super friendly Home Depot employee loaded the salt for me and put it in my vehicle.
