You could but you would have to make the fascia very hot to be able to bend it.

Hi, George! That is correct. The fascia boards are the same color on both sides. However, please keep in mind that one side is wood grain, and the other side is straight grain. Answer

Hi, Tim. You are correct that we do make custom pieces, but it sounds like there is some confusion. You would need a 2400 linear feet minimum (as seen on the Custom Colors and Profiles page here: https://www.newtechwood.com/custom-colors/). While at the onset, this board order does not look to meet this requirement, I went ahead and did the math, and indeed you have a total of about 700 linear feet, which includes combining the deck boards and the fascia boards, well below this threshold,. We recognize the need to avoid waste, but it would not be feasible to make such precise board dimensions, for an order of this size. While it is not ideal, my recommendation would be buy a combination of 8 foot and 16 foot boards and cut to your desired length. You could do this through both HomeDepot.com, and the Home Depot Pro-Desk. Please feel free to email us at inquiry@newtechwood.com with any other questions you may have, or for further clarification.

Can this material be heated with a heat gun and somewhat shaped?

Asked by DockFab October 21, 2019

Answer

Hi, yes, this is possible. However, please do so at your own risk. To confirm the ideal temperature and conditions under which this would work best, please test on a sample, with all necessary safety precautions. Please reach out to inquiry@newtechwood.com if you have any other questions.

Is this product flexible? Can it be used to create a rounded curves in a deck?

Asked by Daniel July 15, 2019

Answers

Hello Daniel. Our board are pretty flexible, it will need to be heated up a bit before bending. You may use the hot towel method to start some bend. Our board does have it limitation to bend though, and we're unsure how much you want to curve your board. If you have any further questions please email us at inquiry@newtechwood.com.

Can i glued down to concrete?

Asked by Yen June 9, 2019

Answer

Hello Yen. Our deck boards cannot be glued down. It must be screwed down using composite screws into the frame below or into the joists using our clips. Please let us know if you have further questions. If so, please email us at inquiry@newtechwood.com.

Does the NewTechWood Fascia Composite Decking Board material come in a 0.6"x8"x10' dimension?

Asked by JR September 7, 2018
1
Answer

Hi, JR. We currently only offer the US05 board in the UltraShield 0.6 in. x 12 in. x 12 ft.size. However, because it can be cut, you could create fascia boards from them to the 0.6 in x 8 in x 10 ft. size.

It states that the dimensions on the piece of material is .6 in.x 12 in.x 12 ft. lg., it was not. It was .6 x 11.125 in. x 12 ft. lg. I planned a project based on the dimensions provided to me, and this board fell shot. Very disappointed and plan on asking for a refund for this product.

Color is way off! Ordered this based on picture on HomeDepot.com site. I can live with a +/- 10% color variance based on online images, but what was received wasn't even in the same ballpark as shade. Even if the shade was livable, the product has white streaks where less colorant has been processed in. These areas are not evenly distributed, nor attractive. The product was also received with chips and corner dents. When paying $50 a board I expect some protection during shipping (cardboard corners or end caps). Only positive is Home Depot accepted the return with no questions asked. The gentleman who handled the return had me in and out in less than 5 minutes and was courteous.

This is no where near the color represented on the website. If this was 2005, I could understand colors not being accurate, but this is 2017 and people want to buy online and know what they will be getting. I'd of been willing to live with a +/- 10% variance in color, but this is completely off! In reviewing the color and board as it is, has white areas where the colorant hasn't been distributed evenly through the composite. The boards arrived with chips and stubbed corners. I'd expect when you are shipping $50 boards to a customer, you at least cap the corners with cardboard.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,"Thank you for the review. We offer samples so that you can look at the product before purchasing. We understand that not every person's monitor is the same and therefore colors could look skewed. Again I apologize for the inconvenience.

I first ordered a sample that arrived in a short time. Based on the sample appearance I ordered 12 Boards 12’ long. The color on the order received is less dark brown than the sample received. I will still use the ordered stock because is a hassle to return such voluminous order, but it is not exactly what I wanted.

Had really bad soft lumber on a deck and I applied this tech wood over the wood and it was great. It’s thin and fits under the doors butt gives the support that in needs. I keep ordering more even though it’s expensive. In the long run i can cover my decking protecting it and giving it support. Once the old timber’s give way I can still use the polytech wood later. It never deteriorates so I can use it on another project.
