OZCO's Ornamental Wood Ties (OWT) Ironwood Post Base Kits are designed to help you build a number of projects faster and easier, from arbors to pergolas and more, with a sleek straight-forward style and ultimate strength. The Ironwood Post Base Kits come in a variety of sizes to fit 4 in., 6 in., 8 in. and 10 in. square posts with all types of lumber from pressure treated to cedar. OWT Ironwood Post Base Kits are constructed of 3/16 in. galvanized steel with black powder coating for the highest corrosion resistance. OWT Post Base Kits will reduce construction time and improve appearance as our products are made to stand OWT, eliminating extra labor and materials. While all of our OWT Building Products are designed for exterior projects they are #OWTstanding for interior design, from architecture to furnishings. Typical Installation with OWT 6 in. x 6 in. Post Bases are pergolas, pavilions, railings and other medium to larger projects.

Q:What are the recommended connectors for installing on an existing wood deck?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello, There are a couple of options based on project preference. You may use 5/16” diameter anchor bolts on the four outside corner holes and/or the middle hole with a 5/8" anchor bolt. To protect your deck, we recommend you also use blocking underneath if not attaching to/through the joist. If you need more information you may visit www.ozcobp.com and inquire.     A:  Hello, Since you are installing into concrete you may use a (5/8" x length you need for your surface, average is usually around 4" inches) concrete wedge anchor in the middle hole of the post base plate. You may add additional 5/16" concrete screws/anchors to the outside 4 corners as well. You could also use a 1/2" concrete wedge anchor as well. Please let us know if you need anything else.           I purchased three of these bases and watched the install videos from the manufacture website. In...
          I purchased three of these bases and watched the install videos from the manufacture website. Installation was very easy which was nice. The quality seems to be very good. However, upon anchoring the base plate and attaching the side plates, the posts are EXTREMELY wobbly and don't seam sturdy at all. I ensured the base plate was locked down tight and level but there is too much movement because the side plates don't completely touch the ground causing space for the post to move back and forth on all sides. I If the side panels were welded on to base plate instead of "latch" style, I think this problem will go away. (maybe?) After reading the reviews I'm wondering if they are "fake" reviews? This was not sturdy....not even close..... I will be returning these and looking for something else. Frustrating as I already drilled the holes in my cement.

            I had wanted an invisible post bases on my beautiful 6x6 cedar porch posts, but discovered it required seriously slotting the wood. The OWT Ironwood bases offered an elegant solution. I bought five and my contractor was very pleased at how easily they installed. The steel is heavy gauge and the finish is excellent. I then bought the matching Tees and Ells for the post-to-beam connections. I'm extremely pleased with the appearance and quality of the product. Highly recommended.
