Product Details

Hands down the most popular pear worldwide, Bartlett has achieved this status for a good number of benefits. The reason Bartlett is so popular in grocery stores is the fantastic honeyed flavor that it carries. This terrific flavor combined with possibly the longest shelf life of any pear has catapulted Bartlett to its place of the worlds most desired pear since the 1800's. A key reason that the Bartlett tree has become a favorite for fruit growers is that the tree produces pears at a much younger age than other traditional pear varieties. Planting a Bartlett tree gives you the unique opportunity to enjoy some of the best pears in the world, and you'll be picking them years before other pear trees that are the same age.
  • Bartlett is self-pollinating
  • Bartlett, with its world renowned flavor, is the golden standard of quality when it comes to pears, whatever you're looking for in a pear, whether it's fresh eating or cooking, Bartlett will more than suit your needs
  • Bartlett trees grow pears at a much younger age than other pear varieties, if you want fresh pears fast then Bartlett is an excellent choice
  • Savory honeyed sweetness make the Bartlett 1 of a kind
  • An all-purpose pear, Bartlett is great for eating, cooking, baking and pressing cider

Q:Will it grow in zone 9b in the Los Angeles ares

Answer This Question

A:  Mine is located in zone 5 Illinois and has been growing for years producing fruit. I do fertilize and I treat it for aphids and spray it myself before fruit is present

by|Jan 31, 2023

A:  I just picked one up in Pomona, CA and I'm also in 9b. The only issue I foresee is the tree getting enough chill hours. However, I assumed since it is sold locally it has a decent chance.

      Answer This Question

A:  The only root it had was 1/4 inch around and about 4 inches long. Just worried that it won't survive with little rootstock.

Q:What do it mean by bare root tree
        by|Sep 14, 2021

        Answer This Question

A:  Bare root means that it has very little or no dirt around the roots (which makes it easier to mail). They will survive just fine, but a full root ball with dirt is always better for planting/transplanting. You take what you can get sometimes.

We needed another pear tree and decided this would be perfect! I can't wait to see if it does as well as our other dwarf pear tree. It looks very healthy! We really enjoy our pears at the end of summer. I will update Spring 2022

                I was wrong
I am one of the naysayers in a previous review and I honestly thought I've been duped. It took a very long time to show any signs of life last year but this year they look fantastic. I have 2 pear trees from here and they both are full of life this year. I am sorry for the negativity.

I was hesitant about the purchase. The product arrived on time as projected. The plant looked dormant. I followed the instructions and planted it in a container and voila! Thank you. Looking forward to the harvest in the next few years.

I received my pear tree at a dormant stage. It appeared to be healthy. I planted it in my back yard. Around July 28th, it started sprouting leaves but the leaves turned black and the stem stared turning black. This continued downward. I pruned the leaves and about 1ft. below the end of the black section. This turned black again. I did some research to find out it had fire blight. I understand this carries over from the previous season.

This dwarf Bartlett Pear Tree came just as it's stated with a bare root. The recommendations listed were a great help as well in assisting with getting a pot if you don't already have one along with soil. The instructions were fairly easy and it gave me great pride once I started seeing small green leaves appear within one week of planting! I didn't notice until after in the questions on the self pollinating vs getting two so make sure your purchase fits your need. Looking forward to living haPEARly ever after...

While purchasing and shipping were efficient and easy, the tree looks more like a stick than a tree! It was a gift for an 8 year old neighbor. Hopefully it will bear fruit before she graduates from high school!
