how many pounds does each box weight?

Each box weighs less than 2 pounds or so. About anyone over the age of 3 could carry it. Very little weight to it. The kit only does one half of a double garage door, so you need two if you have a door for a two-car garage.

Is this product good to insulate the garage in winter months?

Answers

Most definitely. Works very well on my sheet metal garage door that is like a furnace when the sun hits it in summer and a refrigerator in the winter. Other things in the garage space might need attention also-as in insulation in the attic space above, good seals around the garage door.

How big is the box I need to know for picking it up

Asked by debbiehardware December 25, 2020

Hello debbiehardware, the dimensions of the box is 12"x24"x16". The individual panels weigh approximately 0.75 lbs. per panel, or 6lbs. per kit. You would need to determine the weight your garage door can handle to determine if the springs need to be adjusted. Thank you for your inquiry!

Does it work in keeping garrages warmer in winter specially in NEW ENGLAND AREA

Yes it does. I also added insulation to the attic above my garage for just that purpose. Then added a split system AC/Heater. Makes a huge difference and adds useable space. I am in San Antonio so more problems with heat than cold but works both seasons.

Im looking for the rebate paperwork on this product for taxes.

The higher the R value the better. Typical foam (Styrofoam) has an R of 3. Not very good. This product has 3 time higher R, thus it blocks 3 times more of heat. Some have measured up to 20F inside outside difference. However it is heavier than foam so first check if you garage door mechanism will handle it. To do that attach 20 pounds (just hook it up to the inside of the garage door) and try to open it.

Installed November 2020. Product was delivered much quicker and in better condition than expected which was a pleasant surprise. The product itself is pretty much as advertised. Takes longer to install than indicated. Most things usually do the first time out. There are 2 clips per panel when I think 4 would be ideal. The clips are made of plastic. The added cost would probably be minimal to both the manufacturer and consumer. Also, the 22" height conformed to 4 out of 8 door panels. The other 4 being less than 22" required cuts. No problem. Another inch of insulation (23"), however, in terms of height would have allowed for a better fit and snugness on the remaining four panels. Overall though, definitely satisfied with the product and have already recommended it to a few friends.

Poor quality control but
This product should be 5 stars but due to poor quality control I give it 4 stars. I had pieces that were different thickness. Also the biggest issue for me was white backing was shorter than it should be and the pink insulation was visible. I ended up using tape to cover it. Regardless, I recommend it as it was easy to install and it did the job

Great addition to the garage
Worked perfectly! Comes with fairly small rubber gloves. Not required but I will cut cardboard to hold insulation in a bit better.

I have a full-size 2-car garage, so I used 2 kits to do the entire door. Installation was easy and the instructions were straightforward. It has been in place for a month now with no drooping or loose pieces. I have noticed a significant 12-15 degree F difference in temperature between the garage and outdoors, so it looks like the kits are doing their job. I recommend making the panels about 1/2" longer and wider than the target space so they stay snug to the edges. Some of the door panels did not have a sill or lip on one side to tuck the insulation under, so I used a strip of duct tape to prevent drooping. Excellent product; worth the investment!

I've done two garage doors with this. Both single car metal garage doors. Easy to install in under an hour. During the summer it drops the temperature in the garage by about 15 degrees. In the winter it warms it up by about 5 degrees. And that's without any supplemental heating or cooling. It's easy to install without any cutting. That is, unless there's been some modification to your garage door because someone (who will remain nameless) backed into the door. I would recommend getting some foil tape for spots where you are unable to "tuck" the insulation into the panel lips.

This is a high quality product with decent value which will moderate seasonal temperature changes to your garage as well as reduce the noise level during operation. Installation of the product itself requires minimal DIY skills, however you very likely need to adjust the tension on your garage springs. This latter requirement is simple to execute but can be dangerous, so consider hiring a professional. Each product contains 8 insulation panels which are adequate for a 1-car garage door. I purchased two for my two-car door. Installation is very straightforward--measure the panel, cut the insulation, tape the retainers to the door, and install the product. Two hours for a 2-car door is a conservative time estimate. I can't verify the warmth improvement during the winter but I'm sure it will work well with an R8 insulation factor. My garage went from 60 decibels to 51 decibels when opening, a 9 decibel noise reduction with the addition of the insulation. I removed the insulation and clips from the kit, and together they weigh 17 lbs per kit. For a two-car door, this means after trimming a few edges you'll be adding ~32 lbs to the door. This means either you (or a professional) will have to adjust the tension on the spring or risk premature failure of the opener motor. I spent $15 on two adjustment bars, watched a few videos and adjusted myself. I found for the addition of two kits insulation kits (~32 lb), increasing the tension by 1/2 rotation on both torsion springs brought the door back into equilibrium. I would recommend this product, just be sure you or a professional is available to adjust the spring tension.

I was skeptical when I got it but after installing in our 4 car garage the temperature is down 5-7 degrees consistently. Installation was easy. & didn't take much time. It stays in place nicely as we have hurricane impact garage doors.
